Starting something new...finally caved to my wife and grandkids and we picked a seasonal site at Camp Clearwater on White Lake.

http://www.campclearwater.com/Home

We have overnight camped there several times and both my wife and grandkids loved it...sorta like being at the beach without being at the beach, if that makes any sense. Anyways, it is not my idea of camping...not even close...but the ones I love will be very, very happy.

Will post pics as we develop the site...looking at pulling the camper down and setting it up MLK weekend, but filling the site out will be a year long process.

But what a pain for a seasonal site...you have to get a $75 "building" permit from the town of White Lake just to put your camper on site, city water deposit ($190), and then contact Duke energy to turn the sites power on...resort camping

And also...she wants a big deck built on w/ tiki bar, a fire pit, a new golf cart, etc...$$$$$$. Oh boy...

White Lake's beautiful, but man it's really become crowded in the last ten years or so. We have connections to FFA and can make reservations at their camp there, used to go every summer.
Best time to take a canoe around the lake is right at sunrise before all the jet ski wahoos churn up the water.

Don't know if it's still there because I haven't had a chance to go in a couple years, but the Mexican place in town that looks like an old barn is worth checking out if you want to eat out while you're there.

Yes, the big Mexican barn is still in business and I am sure we will get around to trying it at some point.

Awesome . Looks great ! Going to be sooo much fun.

Address PM in route for my Invitation . :D

Some more pics as we continue to improve our position...and yes, sitting here now...81 degrees at the lake right now. New deck furniture coming in next week.
Looking back at the first photo, hard to believe got it this far...

Good grief! All I have is a mat and a couple of chairs.
Make no mistake...this isn’t as much “camping” as it is a second home.
Our first camper years ago, first night out in it it poured rain...I laughed and smiled and my wife didn’t get it, but I have spent most of my adult life with the rain hitting me in the face, or drumming off a poncho hooch...anyways, we each reward ourselves in different ways at different times and this is one of mine.

Looks like a trailer park. Are there views or just a cluster of campers on fenced lots?
Nice views of the surrounding campers...have to ride the golf cart 3/4 mile to the lake for scenic view, but then it’s a round lake ringed by houses, so there’s that; however, wife wanted it here for the grandkids, so here it be, and damn sure going to make the most of it.

I told my wife the same thing! We ended up with a new 47 foot fifth wheel in Linville. It ain’t my idea of camping, but, it’s warm and dry!

@Long_Hunter , that's a very nice set up. White Lake is a cool place.

I can't say as I've ever seen this kind of "camping"... Not my thing but to each his own. I am down with glamping but I at least want a view from my camp. Of course I don't like people or kids for the most part and no people is the best part of camping to me. So a park full of folks crammed together is the opposite of what I look for... Maybe I'm missing something...

That’s what we call a tornado trap.

But it’s what the wife wants for the grandkids, then it’s perfect.

I’ve stayed in the cabins at White Lake, but it’s been a lot of years.

Seeing what you’ve done with the site, the building permit makes a little more sense.

Nice work.

That whole setup looks great man. Now, train your dogs to throw their poop over the fence and you’ll be in business

Are you even "relaxing" ??
Looks like you have a work party every time you go there .

Does look nice and the kids are having great memories made !

You are a better man than I.

The other camping thread reminded me I didn't post a pic of the bar after the resin...for my first bar build I was very happy. I had to go back over the joint, but finally got the smooth surface.

That looks great. What product did you use on the bar? I have a similar piece (Hickory) that I mounted as a shelf next to my grill. I used Varathane, it's oil based but it doesn't look quite as glossy as yours.

That bar top looks good. The kids been having fun ?

We bit on a place up in Cape Cod in October of last year.
Couldn't pass up a free 33' trailer that was only on the road from the dealer to the camp spot in '89

White Lake must have changed a lot since the 80s when we went every weekend of the summer for it to be called a resort now.
