model 17 has a bit of a hitch in the open/close process, probably one of those things that just seems simple.

Near Charlotte would be a bonus, but shipping is not out of the question.

Thanks all,
Jim

Hey Jim...have you checked the ejector rod? Sometimes that is a loose ejector rod symptom. Might just need to tighten it up. Common problem.

If you try to tighten it yourself, make sure you turn the right way. Some are reverse threaded. Also, it can be helpful to drop brass into a couple chambers to keep everything else in place when you tighten the rod.

Alternatively, it's probably just destroyed. I'll give you scrap value. I can meet you in the Arboretum Shopping Center....will take it off your hands. Ha.

Oh, to your question....Don't really have a gunsmith that I would recommend. I either do it myself these days or send it to Smith & Wesson. I had Carolina Sporting Arms do something last year and it took Mooooooooonths. No feedback or communication. Not an awesome experience.

He's a very well respected gunsmith who is also an instructor in the gunsmith program at Montgomery Community College, in Troy.
