Revolver Picture Thread

Did you opt for run select grade, or regular? I purchased one, hope to pick it up from the FFL today.

Select grade. Over all it is good. Action very good. The gun was very dirty though. The barrel was filthy. The ejector rod and spring were completely dry and I would not call it rust but when I cleaned them the white rag had a rust color to it. The rod and spring cleaned up nice though. Today I will finish cleaning all the small parts. I broke it completely down last night. Almost lost one of those small springs too which would of sucked.

EDIT: Everything cleaned and put back together. Could not figure out why side plate was being a pain. Then realized I did not put the main spring back correctly. Action is even better now. In fact it is great!!! Glad I purchased it.

Here’s a solid carry gun that came home temporarily. This is a Smith 438. Gave it to my father-in-law few years ago. He’s visiting from Carolina Beach.

Mine came in today. I saw the email last Friday, and delayed too long to get a select grade. So when I ordered one Saturday morning, I opted for the hand picked for $10 more. Glad I did. It has the right mix of shiny bluing and holster wear. Just perfect.

Yours looks cleaner then mine was. Mine looks good now, but boy it was dirty. I have an old set of wood grips I will probably put on mine. Never really cared for the "Uncle Mikes" rubber grips.

Had a pretty good week as far as revolvers go.

Picked up this little beaut last Friday.

You've bagged quite a few nice revolvers this week. But, if you don't take the clunky rubber off that Model 38-1 and reinstall the original wood Magnas (and a Tyler T), I might have to file for custody. The Pachmayr grip weighs as much as the gun. Ha.

I too had a good week but nothing with wheels. You, on the other hand, have been pretty quiet this week.

Busy busy busy this last 3 weeks.

Ha. I got dinged over at the SW forum for posting in your WTB listing. Oops. Thought you were just posting a pic of the gun. It popped up on my phone and I skimmed it at a red light and responded without realizing that it was a WTB ad. The moderator deleted my post and then sent me a PM to remind me about the rules.

Yeah, I saw the post and knew exactly what was gonna happen. Couldn't think of any way to avoid it. I've been busted there 4 times and "charged" with two points on my record. I may never be able to get a job now. :(

Hey, next time you're gonna be busy for a few days, would you let me know? Might give me a chance to do some buying. :D

Boy they're a tough crowd over there.

In my WTB post, I wrote something like "I guess I'll need the pin too, right?" because I haven't removed the screw-on grips yet. A thoughtful forum member posted, "You do not need a pin, hogue grips also use the same pin, you just can’t see it till the grip comes off." Of course, just like with yours, his post was removed and he's probably already been tarred and feathered in the Springfield town square.

I got a 6 month ding for posting about those M10’s in the Lounge. They said it belongs in the appropriate gun section.

OK, mea culpa, but 6 months?

To add insult to injury, someone chastised me for not calling them Model 10’s, but M10’s.:rolleyes::(

Nit pickers abound.

This might be the only forum I haven't been banned from.

This is not my gun. It’s for sale at a local shop. It is a Smith & Wesson 16-4 (.32 HR Magnum). I think it’s just a really nice looking set up. Having to talk myself out of it...but may fail. Not sure. Really have no use for an expnsive gun in that caliber. Now, if it were 38 Special it would gone.

A 4” 586 with SB Combat grips would be the next best thing, but the sight side profile would be different.

That's always been on my want list for a small game gun.

Last thing I would do is tell you not to buy it. It's a beauty. Couple pics of my 4" 586.

Well, following up on my post above about the Model 16-4. Had to scratch the itch for a 6” K Frame with a Patridge front sight and combat grips...so, I snagged this Model 19-5. Does not have the full lug but is chambered for 38/.357. Have a set of square butt combats waiting for it.

(Pics are from the auction)

Nice. I do not care for the full lug on S&W revolvers. I like this Model 19 much better.

I think I pulled off the impossible. I snatched up a nice Smith before Prosecutor had the chance to. I'll be telling my grandkids about that day when I'm old and crippled.

Anyway, on to the pics. 638-1, with box and screwdriver and cleaning brush. Didn't have the factory grips, but I may have a line on a nice pair for her.

Sunday is for family, so I got a few of the kids out today for a photo op.
Put the factory grips back on this 638, and then swapped the grips around on the 13 & 65.

One of my best GunBroker purchases so far. Super good deal. A 1983 Model 19-5 with 6” barrel, target hammer / trigger with really nice trigger pull. Very good condition but not perfect. Just the way that I like them. It’ll be a good shooter. Have a set of factory combat grips for it.
