Revolver Picture Thread

So a buddy of mine offered me this in trade for a stock Glock G34, and I didn’t have to kiss him or nothin! :D

That’s ridiculous. Might be one of the best deals ever. You did well.

What makes you think so?

I bet you just took that picture out of your wallet.

Need deep concealment today. All J Frames serve that purpose but the extremely light alloy / scandium Model 342 is super. It’s snappy with .38+P (135 gr Speer Gold Dot HP) but controllable and comfortable with Hogue Bantam grips.

2018 is the year of discovering things that have been right under my nose for 25+ years. First, Third Generation Smith & Wesson pistols. Now, Pachmayr Compac Professional grips. The version with the open backstrap.

I always liked the Compac Pros on K Frames and did not know that they were available for J Frame. They are perfect for a working / concealment snub. Thin where it counts but fill the hand front to back. Go just a hair below the grip frame. Not in a way that affects concealment but feels more substantial in hand. Also, great texture but will not snag clothing.

I put a set of Pachmayr Compac Pros on this Smith Model 42-2 Airweight (has grip safety) and it feels awesome. I like the “Lemon Squeezers” for super deep concealment, where it might be carried appendix or in an unconventional manner without a normal holster.

*Note - I had to modify these grips to fit the Model 42. Took a little filing and sanding. Would not be required for the other J Frames.

I like the looks of the Compac Pro grips except for the medallions.

Might have to try some anyway.

After drooling over this thread from post #1-present I can finally say I have joined the club. Special thanks to @Prosecutor for the advice on the purchase, etc.

S&W 12-2
Some dings, gashes and scratches but locks up nice. Already had the Tyler T waiting for its arrival.

That is a beautiful Model 12. Don't be afraid to tote it around. It's a great warm (or any) weather carry piece. You'll find that the anodized frame shows wear a bit faster than regular bluing but it does not rust and adds character. The Tyler T and Magna grip combo is classic and functional. Well done.

New to me .44 special Rossi 720. Not a good picture as I made it in the basement. Outside during the daylight should do better.

chunked full of some 240 grain SWC's

Those are nice guns and in .44 Special makes it nicer.

My plan is to carry it. Love the weight, feel and grip of it.

Haven't even shot it and already thinking about what wheel gun to get next. Hmmm

meet Amadeo....

Amadeo Rossi that is. I deleted the earlier post and took some better photos today

That thing is shinier than the front bumper on an old Peterbilt.

I went to Raleigh for work today and, on my way home, found this 1975-1976 Smith & Wesson Model 10-5 in a Sanford, NC gun shop. Was going to snap a photo and drop it in the “deals thread” for anyone who might be interested...but then I decided to take it home myself [emoji16].

K Frame snubs are harder and harder to find. It’s even harder to find a high condition nickel Model 10. This gun is lightly used. No significant wear. Nickel is 100% intact.

Damn, I wish I ran across that! I always have preferred revolvers in nickel or stainless over blue. Must have wood grips too.

If you think of parting with it let me know. The shops around my way do not have anything besides plastic guns or beat to death metals ones (used guns that is).

Great score!

I stop in nearly every gun shop, pawn shop, or possible “gun selling place” out of some odd compulsion, but online is where it’s at for classic Smiths and Colts. The auction sites and forums.

I just have the feeling that one day I will find a steal. In this digital age I know it is harder to come by since anyone can search a value in a heartbeat. I have seen some colts but man were they beat to hell. One day, maybe one day

Just curious, Prosecutor, was that the gun store right off US1 in Sanford?

Yes. Used to be K&L Guns. It is now Carolina Firearms Training & Gun Sales. Owner was very nice. Retired cop. I invited him to the forum.

The shop is visible from Route 1 but is really on a small street that runs next to it. Left side of the road if headed north.

Here’s his card:

Yup, just down from Davidson’s steakhouse. Haven’t stopped in there yet but I intend to now. Thanks!

Picked up this old 5 screw Chiefs Special at Cabelas today. With a vintage (unshrounded trigger) SafariLand holster it was just under $300. Internet lore puts it at 1952 or so? It's been carried a lot but locks up tight. I'm not sure I like the target grips on it to look at , but it sure feels nice in the hand.

Nice find. Can you just imagine the stories it could tell?

Saw that one there a couple days ago. Seldom see stuff there at "human" price levels- glad someone grabbed it. I've bought a few there but always find it odd that right next to a gun thats priced right, theres 30 that are $200 over market. Sometimes I wonder if its a store or a museum...

The shiney one would start with a 6, as in 642.
