Revolver Picture Thread

Not sure if I’ll hang onto it with the blade style front sight, but we shall see.
The earlier J frames like yours have more narrow front blade sights and narrow tunnel groves for the rear. Later versions of the J frames were improved with slightly larger/wider fixed sights. Nice gun for sure.

Nope, it is a 3" barrel M632, one of the rarest of all modern era S&W revolvers. A little later I'll post a pic of a 3" M640, which is also scare.

Had to look that up.

6 shot .327 Magnum on a J frame.

I'll be dang. Didn't even know it existed. Learn something new about Smith all the time.

The one pictured is a Model 632-1. They were also made with a 2" barrel, but the 3" is even more difficult to find. It is the only one I have ever seen, and it came from a local Raleigh gun shop, underpriced because they didn't realize exactly what it was.

Found this pre-36 in a pawn shop back in December. It was rough but the price was right. The "before" pictures show the good side. There was quite a bit of pitting on the cylinder and probably at least 40% of the finish missing overall. Someone put the "home bob" job on the hammer.

Mechanically it felt wonderful! But if I even breathed a little heavy while looking at it rust would start forming.

@Studentofthegun knows a fella that does cerakoting and got me the hook-up. The fella was out of the OD green I wanted so we went with the FDE. He did the black highlights of his own accord. I am very happy that he did.

I know it's somewhat sacrilegious in the Smith world but I REALLY wanted to be able to put this one in the "glove compartment/tackle box" lineup. I'm typically not enamored with square butt J-frames but this one just had enough soul to really appeal to me.

I couldn't be happier with how it turned out and I thoroughly enjoy carrying it around the homestead.

This is not a beauty queen by any stretch, but I think everyone should own a model 10 and I sold my last one off a year ago. I was able to pick this one up a couple months ago before prices went completely hysterical, and I’ve been pleased with it. 10-8 made in 1979 with lots of character. It’s freckled in a number of areas with light rust, so much so on the back strap that you may mistake it for stippling. People used to pay gunsmiths a lot to have that done and I got it at no extra charge! Despite appearances it hasn’t been shot much. It came with standard magna grips, but these targets just fit me better.

Hammer is bobbed, which is just fine with me as I seldom ever shoot in SA. I have some Magnas ordered for it, and I’m starting the search for a Tyler T Grip to complete the grip configuration I want. Just got this Friday, and I haven’t had time to shoot it. So far I’m very happy with the gun. All the safety checks worked out on the lockwor, and the trigger is quite smooth. This is the first 3” K-frame I’ve owned, and I can see why folks love them now.
