are there any revolver specific shooting classes in the triad area? trying to become more proficient with 357mag

ETA:Honestly, I'd rather put someone down with one or 2 shots than have to dump a 17-20 round mag and risk collateral damage.

I've told this before but here's my story...

I was watching a good friend and VERY accomplished former LEO shooter. He has an old Smith revolver he calls "Mrs. Jones" ("We've got a thing going on" ;)). The light went on for me and I supposed that spending serious time with an all metal revolver (in DA only) might help my overall gun control to the point where shooting anything could improve. I went on the hunt and ended up with a nice NCSHP 66-1 and promised myself to shoot nothing but that gun this entire year.

I put Wilson Combat springs in it the other day and the difference is astounding. The DA dropped by almost 3 pounds and SA (which isn't my objective but interesting anyway) is now in the area of 1.5#. Friends do everything they can to tempt me with cool guns to shoot but I'm trying to be strong.

This is turning out to be quite an investment given the cost of the gun and that the cheapest decent .38 I can find runs around 10 cents per round more than cheap 9mm. Every time I walk out to the range it's $25 or $35. That's starting to show up in the household budget.

Is it working? Stay tuned because after New Years, we'll see whether it reflects itself in how I shoot my actual carry gun.

If you find a local class, I'd be very interested.

Also interested for self defense use. Not a single action cowboy class because that’s all I find.

I’m waiting for their P365 class. :D

We do teach a 4hr beginner handgun class that is non-specific, but it is very introductory. I would recommend our Defensive Revolver 1 class. It is not on the books, as it is by request, but we do private training and we are always willing to put one on the books and try. A few forum members have taken it and can give feedback, plus... we are based out of Winston Salem so even better! :)

I'd definitely take the Defensive Revolver I again. I had gotten some nice Padauk grips for my revolver and it looked great but was hard on the hands, lost quite abit if skin that day after I think 500 rounds,. I'll be running with Pachmayr grips next time, lol.
