I have been thinking about getting a dash camera for a while now but I didn't know which ones to get, which ones not to get. Every time I would look I would get more confused. So, I still didn't have one.

Because of another thread, I found out about the Rexing V1 dash camera. After seeing people's remarks and reading reviews, I ordered one from Amazon for $99.99. I put it in my truck, very easy to install and very easy to operate. I was so impressed I ordered another one for the wife's CRV.

Good choice.

The only problem I had with any of the three of mine, was of my own doing.

I got a little impatient with the two sided tape and prematurely mounted the camera, all while it was sitting, facing the sun. The camera was drooping after a few hours.

I had to remove the tape and the residue with goo gone, get more tape from ChinaMart, and remount it.

'Tis all good now.

Both of mine came with two sticky pads. I guess you're the reason why they started doing this.

I mounted mine to the mirror stem with a kit from Amazon.

I have some version of this camera in every vehicle.

The newer mini 3 linked above is also a great camera. I put one in my wifes sequoia recently. I have the Mini2's with remote in all the other vehicles. I really like the remote. See something interesting? click the remote to take a picture and record a mini video. You can customize what the remote does. I have it setup to take a picture and store a video 10 seconds before and 10 seconds after snapping the button. Makes it real nice when going back over old video trying to find something.

Wired? Rechargeable? What powers it?

Have the Rexing in my cars. Powered from cable to accessory jack.

Not great pictures but this is mine on my Tacoma. The camera is a couple years old and I just moved it over from my Tundra. Completely happy with it.

I was referring to the camera, itself.
The camera has to be powered. See above for the hardwired kit I used. It comes with a cord and power adapter if you don't want to hardwire.

Geezer, when I bought my Garmin about 2 years ago I knew nothing about them excerpt I have Garmin in all my boats. So I bought one and have not had a problem with it. One day I wanted to see how quality of the recording was so I played it back. That is where I had an issue. It records in 1 minute segments. Might be good might be bad. After the Mini SD is full it starts from the beginning erasing footage (good). I wish it recorded in maybe 30 minute segments. That would make it easier to find what you are looking for (bad). I did have Best Buy wire it into the ignition system of the car.

On these, you can adjust the loop time, 3 min, 5 min, 10 min, I think.

Thanks.

I just ordered one. They're on sale and I went through Ebates for the 5% cash back.

Yeah, that's a great deal today. I paid over $100 a couple months ago for it.

Just ordered one along with the rear view mirror mount. I drive a lot so a good thing for me To have. If I like it I will get one for wifeā€™s car. Thanks!

I put the Rexing V1P Gen 3 with the rear facing camera in my car after Christmas. Been pleased with it so far.

I also have one too. Mine kept separating from the mount in the heat (Not from the windshield, from the mount). It turns out the plastic was too smooth so I used some sandpaper on it. Now Iā€™m wondering if I want the GPS unit.

I also have a Rexing V1. It took 3 units to finally get a good one but itā€™s been running strong for 3yr now.

My Tacoma came with a GoPro mount so I 3D printed an adapter and hardwired the camera into my truck. Itā€™s great.

i like my Rexing cams....but don't do what i did with the first one.

i mounted it too high on the windshield so it focused on the border of the window tint.
once i moved it down about 1/2 inch, it worked fine.

I just picked up a Rexing V1P 3rd gen with the rear facing 2nd camera. I haven't had much time to set it up (all I was able to do was to attach the mount tonight) but I found out the F150 doesn't have a switched cig lighter port so it will have to be powered with the hard wire kit which should come tomorrow.

Thanks for all the recommendations.

I use the suction cup mount on mine so I can use it at work.

I just installed a Rexing V1P in my Jeep last week. The heat finally did in my old camera. From now on I'm going to be a little more attentive to not letting the camera bake in the hot sun.

Fortunately, my TJ and JK both have switched ports and that makes it nice. Mount it and forget it basically.

Iā€™m having a new radio, a Kenwood put in the new Jeep . It comes set up for a dual backup camera and a dash cam. It has a hard drive that stores video to. Iā€™ll let you know how I like it.

I did it......

Ordered a V1LG dual camera setup. Amazon had it from $169.99 to $118.99.....then a $20 coupon. How could I pass that up!!???!!!!

I installed the V1P 3rd Gen and it is up and working great. I hard wired into a "delayed" fuse in the passenger fuse box. The hardest thing with the install was finding a delayed fuse not currently used by the truck using a multimeter. The camera kit came with enough cord on the cigarette lighter probe to hide the wiring if you wanted to use that port, but I decided for $9 to hard wire since I didn't have a switched cig lighter port. It came with a rear camera that most put in the back window to look straight outside, but with the back window sliding for me I decided to put it on my rearview mirror in order to capture the "blind spots" outside of the 2nd row windows and half of the front side windows. It came with more than enough cord to mount it in the back, in fact I doubled up the cord and the middle of the cord runs in the headliner back to the back and down C pillar. I will say the "App" leaves a lot to be desired and the app is not a "remote" as I thought it was. That said, I can download clips to my phone via the app wirelessly and then use dropbox to move to my computer when I'm in the driveway and within wireless range of my home internet.

I was worried it would be obnoxious and always in the corner of my eye, but I was able to install it in such a way that it is pretty hidden from view. If I need to access the screen, I just sit in the passenger seat and turn the truck on.

I was wondering about the shaded part on the windshield. My daughter's car has that and was wondering if it would stick to that or not.
I want to hide it from drivers view as well.

It came with the 3M VHB tape and usually that stuff is super strong. To mount it, I plugged it in and turned it on and moved it around to as high as it would go before the dots came into view on the screen and marked it with some blue painters tape. Then I attached the mount permanently after squaring it up and reattached the unit. Plugging it in temporarily before hiding the cables was the ticket to getting it just right.

I got my Kingston high endurance 64Gb card today for mine!
