Rhodesian FN FAL

Great video! Maybe I can tickle this thread a lil since I just got a DSA FAL and am looking for some information from those with some experience. Mine is NOT FA unfortunately but it has me smiling anyways. Any scope mount suggestions or likes/dislikes about these guns? The one I have coming has a pic rail, so that will help with the optic, but the rail seems high compared to the shoulder mount. There seems to be some bias towards "knock off" guns like Century vs FN or DSA; is there that much of a difference in performance?
I know, I know....pics? Once I get hands on it pics will get posted here so yall can share the joy....or your envy...lol

Cool! FALs are one of my favs..own two..an older DSA stg and a stg kit on imbel.

Stock triggers are stiff. They can be worked on by a few folks, check the falfiles if interested in it. I swapped my springs for falcon arms springs whuch lightened the trigger a bit, and was a cheap upgrade.
Dsa scope mount is decent from what Ive read, on the fence with irdering one myself.
With mags...everyone hates dsa mags...i like mine fine. Had to smooth the edges a bit as they were sharp and biting rounds causing feeding issues. My surplus have had issues..never really futzed with em to see what was up as I have a good amount of functioning mags.

I have a DSA and love it. DSA and surplus mags work well, and are not hard to tweak. I won't scope mine... I am fortunate to have eyeballs that work like they are half my age. Mine can punch holes in a pie plate at 200 yards easily, without adjusting the sights.

This thread needs pics!

IMG_0132.JPG I've had a couple imbel/stg builds
True battle implements, built like a beast, heavy/large
Accurate as hell
Definitely handle like something you haul around in an armored vehicle, jump out and use in times of war
I eventually moved to the M14/M1A platform (much more nimble and easier for me to handle)

Larry Vickers is all about those South African (geographical, not state) FALs, and has done a crap-load of research. I love those guns.

I got OP shorts from the 80's....just waiting for the gun to get here. The gun porn will have to do until then!

The DSA heavy duty scope base is very very good.

Problem with Century and DSA and other US companies put together or made parts and products is the American quality is spottier than 3rd world country (Brazil) ones. I know this sounds like an impossibility or saying Browning can't design a gun, but there you have it. This is more about perhaps greed than ability. It does not mean they are all and and you should avoid them, but it requires more researching, knowing how to identify when it is good or not, and learning the good and bad seasons. For instance, old forged DSA receivers were good while Enteprise "unibrow" ones needed some help to make work. Century built guns have a bad rep but there are many that were not botched jobs. And DSA-made paratrooper trigger housings (a.k.a. lower receivers by AR crowd) were well liked.

Fun fact: the old hot was Rhodesian FALs. The new hot is Indian ones.

WARNING: I know nuthing about those feirgner FAAWS
