I've got a 1847 Walker Revolver and I've seen a 1858 New Army Target Carbine and I was wondering would the carbine be able to take the same load as the walker? I know with the walker you fill and pack ball. So I was just wondering if the same would apply as they both appear to have same cylinder sizes and such only major difference is barrel length

The carbine is an 1858. 40 gr max load. The real deal didn't come along until 1866. I'm getting one with tax money I lost the 1858 revolver I had in a car fire. I love black powder. I plan on deer hunting with full power loads and squirrel hunting with light loads. The walker colt holds 60 gr.

The wad is to stop chain firing. I normally would rub Crisco around the ball. I used 454 balls in mine. They still left a ring of lead when pressed in.
