We have new iPhones and have had them for about six months or so. I received a bunch of calls on my older phone which I kept blocking. The new phone has a setting which prevents ring through for calls not in your contacts list. Now I get anywhere from 15 -20 calls a day which is an increase from the older phone. WTF. I am really getting tired of this crap and would like to stick it to these assholes. Anyone else in the same boat?

I get 10 or more a day on my cell. And 5-10 a day on my hoe landline.

I block numbers that do not leave a message. I only answer calls that are in my contact list and let the voicemail handle the rest. If you do not leave a message you get blocked.

On the home phone if I pick up, which is rare, I say "Hello" loudly three quick times, if there is not a human on the line I hang up.

As a point of interest, a lot of the calls are traced back to the NRA.

I looked at my "blocked caller" list recently and stopped scrolling after a few minutes. It was absurd. The DNC registry list is a joke.

There was a new law about this passed in the past week or so, expect the problem to get worse.

Remember the days of long distance calling with charges? International calling incurred a large connection fee too. Back then, spam calls from foreigners in 3rd world crap-hole countries weren't a problem. They couldn't afford it.

15-20 a day? Wow, that's insane. I definitely do not have these problems, but then again I do some things to mitigate it, too.

I never put my real phone number in an online form when ordering something. If there's a problem with the order, an email will be just fine.
I also never put my real phone number down on a grocery store savings card application. These folks are the worst for selling your phone/emails.
I never link my real phone number to any social media.
I never give my real number as a recovery number to Paypal, Gmail or others.
Basically, I don't put my number down online or in a form anywhere. Folks like to sell that info.

All that said, occasionally something slips through and I'll get a call or two. A quick call to the Do Not Call registry fixes that right up. Don't know why others have so much trouble with the DNC not working.

These things are really easy to do and I bet I've had five spam calls in the last six months.

NC also just had a law go into effect (12/1/19 I think) that require the number and ID that comes up on the caller-id also had to be correct. Tits on a boar hog....

We still have an old land-line, as it's the best for our alarm system, and that gets the 95% of the calls. I probably don't get but 1 or 2 a month on my cell, the same number I have had since 1991. I just press answer and don't say anything, and most disconnect in 11 seconds. The phones (Panasonic) can also block numbers, and I block repeat numbers.

The solution is technology on the part of the carriers, but unless they can profit from it they don't give a damn, even though the FCC has cleared the way for them to stop robocalls cold.

AT&T call protect app and “silence unknown callers” setting on my phone keeps it quiet. In my VM I say leave a message or I will NOT call you back.
    My phone is quiet now.

I get a few every day on my office phone, 1-2 a day on my work cell phone, and probably 1-2 a week on my personal cell phone.

I used to use an app that blocked robo calls on my personal phone, but the app company wanted to start charging for it after its early users did all the work of flagging the spam callers for their system. Sadly, I wasn't going to pay to use something I helped them build up, so I deleted it.

I've been on the Do Not Call registry for many years, and I can't tell its done me any good in regards to car warranty calls and the credit card calls.

I am about at the point, where I might as well have fun with them..... But that would be a discussion for the Basement.
