Rock Island 1911 .22 Magnum

Looks a lot like a knock off of Bob Marvels unit with the slide operating below the barrel and the pinned barrel. Interesting, very interesting......

Id own one.

Bought a bunch of .22 magnum awhile back because it was a great buy. And I don’t even own one.

And I just traded for a 22magnum LCR. Guess there's nothing wrong with having two guns in this caliber. :)

I like this.

Any other mag semi-autos besides the kel tec? Those feel like a toy to me

I don't think a can would help at all on a .22 Mag.
It does. I have a can on my Savage and it allows me to shoot it without earpro. It drives all Sonic crack down range.

165 db to 135 db I bet. Not hearing safe but better for your ears. If your muffs or plugs reduce 25-30 db and your gun is 165 db, you can still be causing hearing damage.

I can say I fired a round or two from the PMR 30 without ear protection and it is very sharp crack rather than a boom....not advisable at all.

On that note...some of the 22mag personal defense rounds are designed for short barrel and claim to have less flash.

I was reading about this in one of my recent gun rags. I like it. 22 mag is just giggle fun. Two & a-half pounds loaded..I imagine it don't even move.
Kinda pricey though, even at street prices. Starting to get close to a PPQ 45, which is calling me in my dreams.

I hope Rock Island has it working now. They have had blurbs about this pistols for a few years now. It sure looks like a lot of fun.

AMT AutoMag II and Grendel both made a semi auto pistol in .22 WMR. The Kel Tec is a continuation of the Grendel.

I've owned couple Ruger Single Sixes and a Smith Model 651 all in .22 WMR. What you can do with a .22LR RIFLE, you can get the same performance out of a handgun.

Is that true? I always heard that you get a huge benefit from the longer barrel from a 22 Mag.

Yes, the .22 WMR preforms better out of a longer barrel. But out of a short barrel handgun it gives you the ballistics of a .22LR from a rifle (121 fpe). Out of a .22 WMR rifle barrel you get 2-3x the energy (324 fpe).

I'll stick with the 30rd PMR over this, but if I really wanted a 1911 in .22 more powerful than 22lr I'd go for their real 1911 in 22TCM (2000fps from a 5" 1911).

That automag 2 is sweet, but they are hard to find now.... and the price reflects that.

A buddy has a TCM. Balls-out fun to shoot, a real sizzler.
Ammo is kinda pricey..about 40 cents a pop..and can be hard-ish to find sometimes.

Geezer and I measured a 22 mag OAL against a piece of .45 ball. We both were REAL glad we hadn't made a bet on that. Same OAL. What that means is the grip doesn't have to be like the PMR30s we had here. My girlish hand was in an awful contorted position trying to shoot that gun. This might really be something to get hold of. Perhaps one will show up at the Myrtle Beach show. It's the last week in this month and Battery Oaks and Carolina Firearms Forum will be side by side, so stop by!

Interesting that they will bring big $$ now. I've never seen one that would shoot more than 2 magazines without becoming a jamamatic

Lee dies in 22 TCM is less than the cost of 100rds of TCM ammo. I guess brass can be formed pretty easily from .223/5.56 , no?

All I need is a reason to buy another 1911.Thanks,thanks a lot.I have two rifles and two revolvers that shoot .22 magnum and it is a fun round. As much as I love a 1911 if I want a fireball I pull out the FN 5.7 and scare women and children.
