What an awesome 1911, just bought my 3rd box of 1000 rd primers and never had a failure to feed or fire yet. Correction, when I first bought it, I tried the blue bullets and they didn't work out for me. They left a residue in the chamber and it would prevent the slide from going all the way forward after about 75 rounds. Since then I changed to plated and its been nothing but joy ever since..I use the mecgar magazines and feed they 115,124 and the 147 heads perfectly. This isn't my first 1911 and the other more expensive ones were a lot more problemactic requiring gun smith work or certain magazines/bullet head shapes to make it work. Heck, I don't even bother to clean it maybe every 500 rounds? Have yet to take apart the lower end, don't see a need to. Couldnt be happier with this 1911 and suggest it anyone.

I have a Rock Island 1911 in .38 super and 9mm. Very reliable and the .38 super barrel is very accurate. The Rock Island is an incredible value![IMG]

When I was researching RIAs a year or so ago with particular regard to their 9mm offerings, I couldn't find a negative review on-line anywhere. Not one.

After a while the silly love fests get dull. Need a good smelly reality turd. Can’t have all these I am so smart threads without a little kickback.

Some people get lucky with their RIA 1911 in 9mm, some people don't....guess which person I turned out to be? LOL.

From the way it ran when you had it at @BatteryOaksBilly 's a while back, I'd say you are one of the lucky ones. Nearly 500 rounds with 6 different shooters, 5 different magazines, and various kinds of ammo and not the first hiccup.

Yep, it was completely brilliant that day, not so much a couple of days later. LOL. We all know this gun's issues, I'm sure.
I hope you weren't there when it finally packed up for good at Billy's. It was very sad. What a mess!
I still love it, though, and when it's having a good day, it's wonderful to shoot.

I recently tried out a RIA 9mm/22TCM combo pistol. It was 100% reliable for feeding, firing, and extracting when shooting 9mm Blazer Brass. When I switched over to the 22TCM, I had probably 9 or 10 FTE's out of 100 rounds fired. I also found that the 22TCM had a POI noticeably low & left compared to shooting 9mm through the same pistol when using the same grip and trigger operation. But by the time I finished the 100 rounds of 22TCM, I had adjusted myself to get consistent small groups where POI matched POA. If I can get it to extract reliably, it will easily become a favorite.

A Candy bar dropped into a swimming pool filled with kids a lot more fun to watch then a turd dropped into this punch bowl. Either way, its still funny. Hate to hear about your troubles member Field Grade.
