Had a friend pass away (will post about it later) but it turns out that he had some reloading supplies that his family bequeathed to me last week. This RCBS rockchucker is as old or older than I am, but it's in FAR better shape than I am ;)

Everything on this thing looks brand new. I think he only reloaded a couple hundred 9mm with it and then stuck it back in the box years ago.

It was stuck, so I had to spray the ram with CLP and clamp it to the bench to get it to loosen up, but now it's smooth as 3 year old single barrel bourbon on the rocks ;)

Since I had never owned a RCBS press before, I had to watch some youtube videos on the primer system. Looks like I will use this press for precision work mainly.

Even that clearly says RCBS, it looks more like a Redding..... I had a rockchucker but it had a black tray that sat on both sides of the shell holder that would catch thenspent primers.

Sorry for your loss. It was nice of his family to think of you.

Yeah there's a green tray that came with this one. I dont think they build themblike this anymore

Typically when someone inherits things like this it says a lot about what kind of a friend they were. Good job sir and sorry for the loss of your friend.
Yeah he was a good dude. Longtime coworker of nearly 20 years. I used to mow his grass, and my Uncle still does (until the house gets sold). He was a bit of a hoarder so this and various other gun related items went to me because he
always told his family how much into that me and my family were. I alway knew he had RCBS stuff just didn't know it was like brand new unused gear from the 70s. I will make sure it gets used to the full

Sorry to hear about your friend, but his family sure did provide a great way to remember him, hopefully with great frequency!!!!

That was the first press I ever bought for metallic reloading and I still use it for some processes and for playing with seating depth at the range. Below is a link to an excellent set of plans for building a portable, stable reloading stand for it. Mine has not been bolted to the bench since I built mine 10 years ago. Just be sure to use an oak stair tread as they are thinker than oak lumber.

Other than that, just a set of Hornady LNL quick change Press kit and you are off to the races with a portable loading station, even if it is a little on the heavy side.
