Yeah, another b!tching rant about how Hollyweird is screwed up...

I like the show Roseanne. I think it did a pretty good job at painting middle/low income blue collar America. We watched the reboot, and while it had some infuriating things (i.e. the cross-dressing little boy), it still represented American families (I think) and the screwballs we can be thrown. I've yet to be presented with that particular challenge, thankfully, but I'm sure others of equal caliber await me in the future.

This BS about Roseanne spouting off about Oblahblah's something-of-other aide, it's...what's the word to use...poppycock.

I hope this re-reboot "The Conners" explodes in their self-righteous faces. Like her or hate her, Roseanne was the face (need I point out the obvious namesake?) of that show. You can't just kill her off. It'll suck.

It's not in my nature to wish ill-will of failure and misfortune on people (particularly the army of non-actor people involved in the show), but I'll admit nothing works better than a loud F YOU from the viewers. I'm hoping for a good lesson learned being presented to the show rather than any sort of viewership or awards.

Icing on the cake will be to see them have to come hat in hand and re-hire Roseanne to make it work.

I liked the original, the reboot was okay albeit horribly "acted." This "Connors" show won't make it to my TV. I like John Goodman, but a lot of the other people on the show annoy me.

She made a monkey joke about a black woman. You just can't do that. The only way that's not racist is if she didn't know the woman was black which, coincidentally, was her explanation. I'm inclined to take her at her word and give her a pass but I'm not the network exec in charge of damage control. Good luck with the new show but I will not be watching.

And since we're talking about politics vs Sitcoms I WILL be watching the new season of Last Man Standing on Fox. I hope it's still funny.

So now you can't have a flag, talk about Raccoons, or Monkeys. Seems like the PC World is going to take any title they can to pull the racism card.

That’s an absurd absolute. When you want to talk about what I actually said I’m right here.

ETA: and what about racoons? I have no idea what you’re about there.

Jarret claims to be 5% Native American, 49% European, 46% African via DNA test. According to her wiki page she does not claim middle eastern ancestry although she was born in Iran.

I was saying the Politically Correct Police are making anything they can "Racist." I don't want to post a list of terms that have been deemed racist on this forum, but my point was, pretty soon anyone who ISN'T Black/African-American (whatever the current PC term is) won't even be able to address someone who is without foul flags hitting the ground.

To clarify, I believe "coon" is/was considered racist. Somehow saying "black" is offensive to others... and for the record, there is no superior race, we're all a bunch of amazing creatures, with a handful of dumbasses thrown in.

Back to The Conners...

I don't think what she said was racist. I also don't think it was worth her losing her job. If I say a Obama's wife looks like a baboon mixed with a man it just makes me rude, not racist.

Also rather observant.

I didn't know about this Iranian twist--it makes ABC's decision all the more a witch hunt to oust anyone not against Trump. Convince me otherwise--I've got a 6 pack of your favorite cold beverage on the line that says you'll be unable to do so.

And, let's face it- Jarret DOES look like the female doctor on Planet of the Apes.

Interesting the lack of outcry when Peter Fonda said he wanted to lock Trump's kid in a cage full of pedophiles. Pointing out that Obama's handler is an ugly bitch is apparently beyond the pale, while advocating the sexual abuse of a sitting President's child is perfectly okay.

I liked the old show and we enjoyed the new show.......however it wont be the same without rosy....

Politics messin' up tv.......its bad enough when the state of the union address takes over network tv, but this is too much!

Technically speaking, it is not racist to assert anyone looks like a descendent or offspring of an ape-like species if you subscribe to the theory of evolution. Just be confident when you assert such claims and remind those that will call you racist that they should read up on "The Origin of Species" by Charles Darwin.

Similar argument I had with the in-laws over stereotyping. It is not only a good thing to do, it is also good science. Stereotyping has also allowed man to conserve energy spent on fitness or large size to allow the mind to further develop by allowing the mind to identify trends and make quick assessments of threats (i.e. stereotyping).
