Watched a couple videos on mounting scopes, both showed putting a little powdered Rosin in the rings to help secure the scope from movment. Anybody here do that? Also, where would you find it locally, best brand, etc? Quick Google search returned hits from Wal-Mart, Dicks, etc. Looks like its used on tennis rackets etc. Would that be the same stuff used?

Never heard of that. If you are really concerned just buy the Burris rings with the plastic inserts. They work well. Although I can't say I've ever felt the need for anything on my Warne, DNZ or Leupold rings either. Don't overthink it, it isn't that complicated.

Not really worried about it for my current mounts. Mounting a 17HMR today, no recoil. I could potentially see it being beneficial to larger calibers with heavy recoil to prevent any possibly shift of the scope. I'll likely do those eventually, so I was curious. Never heard of it myself until seeing those videos.

Just remember internet axiom #1. You can find anything you are looking for on the internet. Even the bad stuff. Be careful out there. :D
