So I’ve been running a b5 stock for a while and have found that the rubber end is a little grabby on the sides for my liking. It catches on my shirt when doing basic manipulations and is pretty annoying. I’ve put electrical tape, duct tape, and now gorilla tape around the sides and it seems to work for a little while until it wears off and I have to replace it. Is anyone else having any problems like this and if so what are you doing to fix it?

I’m guessing I might need to just switch to a different stock but figured I’d ask you guys before hand just to see your thoughts. I included a picture to show how shotty it looks right now. I prefer function over form but surely there’s another way besides having to have duct tape on a nice rifle.

you know I didn’t even think of that. I’m about to hit the sack but will definitely give it a look tomorrow. Thanks.

OP in the thread says it works like a charm.

There's got to be some old trick for making sticky rubber more like smooth rubber. No? Talcum powder...oil...pig guts? Something.

I wonder if plasti-dip would make it smooth. I use on ends of our rescue ropes and it doesnt seem too grabby.

I’m working 7 am to 7pm and won’t get home till after 8 tonight but will let you know directly.

@NCLivingBrit sorry to keep you hanging, I got home last night and my grandpa had a 8 pointer hanging and I had to skin and quarter it for him so I didn’t get to check it out. Hopefully after work today I won’t have anything in the way.

@NCLivingBrit and anyone else interested,

The tape I was using turned out to be gorilla tape. It left a very sticky residue on the rubber piece and some on the stock itself. I was able to get it off by rubbing it with my fingers so not too bad. 13C7C724-1E26-4DEB-B4D0-2CCF8DBE9CE6.jpeg 90D6653B-5977-4C68-8D66-88ED57E6CEBC.jpeg

I just got it off tonight and haven’t had time to shoot but hopefully tomorrow I can test it out a bit. As for now I think I’d prefer to have some sort of rubber piece on the end. I just don’t like how it’s grabby around the edges. Being grabby on just the end would be nice to help hold the rifle up one handed while doing basic drills but the edges catch on my shirt at certain times. I suppose it’s just a trade off with the b5. I plan on giving it a shot and then looking for some armor all being it’s cheap and I can use it for other things. If it doesn’t work I might try the plasti-dip or maybe some of them pig guts as a last ditch effort.

Just curious...could something as simple as sandpaper smooth the sides out and eliminate/lessen the stickiness?
