Not to be out done by Glock, Ruger has introduced their own new pistol that no one asked for. The LCP II 22LR. I'm all for new products but who is asking for these guns? The rationale is they're great for training so should we expect every new gun introduced to have a 22 counterpart? Maybe that's already the case and I'm just not seeing it. I'm sure like the Glock 44 people will line up to get them but at $349.99 MSRP I think I'll pass.

CNC machining so easy to scale down to .22lr.
Perhaps they used focus groups.;)

The orientation of the safety is interesting.

Up and down works fine on bigger guns, but it can be hard to easily get the thumb positioned properly for traditional safeties on smaller guns. The forward and backward motion of the new safety looks like it might be more convenient for a smaller gun.

So.....an SR22 but without the changeable grip sleeves, the threaded barrel capability and probably more expensive?

Excellent point.
A rimfire pistol without a threaded barrel is a loser from jump street. Especially from a company that sells rimfire suppressors.

It must be marketed as a self defense pistol.

It's like a Jimenez JA22 but polymer and 3 times the price. I don't really get it. The Glock 22lr is the same size as the G19, that I get.
The LCP is the most uncomfortable gun I have ever shot and missed something at 5yds with since trying my grandfather's FIE .25 ACP lol.

Surprisingly it does have a 10rd magazine.

Even Taurus got the threaded barrel part right.

Ruger will probably sell many tens of these.

How many times do we see threads asking for guns for recoil sensitive shooters who lack the hand strength to rack a slide? This is who the target market is.

Along with those who own an LCPII in .380 but find it unpleasant to shoot.

This is exactly the target audience.

You take your logic and leave my thread alone. Let somebody else rant for a change. :D

Honestly this may get me to make the jump to the LCPII.

I've been holding out since my LCP is nicely broken in at somewhere north of 1600 rounds. One failure to eject in that timeframe with a lady with smallish hands shooting it. I think she limpwristed it a bit. I have been unable to repeat the failure.

I saw on Ruger's Web page that they now offer a 9mm slide and mag conversion for the lcp. Costs as much as an lc9.

I'm going to get one. Might be the only gun my wife will shoot regularly that she also uses as a carry piece. Yeah its not a 9 or 380 but she so rarely shoots a pocket gun because of how much she hates it, she probably isn't much good with one of those anyways.

The LCPII 22lr is kinda cool because they used the same frame as the 380.

At least the mag is full unlike my S&W 22 Compact. The mag is only 1/2 full with 10 rounds.

I'll probably buy one. Always have wanted something this size for carry around the farm. Might pocket or ankle carry it as a secondary piece.

I bought one of the original LCP’s from knifeman32, and have gotten pretty decent with it. My wife dislikes shooting the 380, but likes the idea of a 22 version, so I’ll likely end up with one.

I got an email from Gunbuyer and they have them for $319.00, no tax, free shipping. They will most likely drop more they are around awhile.

They are gonna sell a blue million of these.

Ain't that the truth. For the most part, Ruger keeps cranking out new products that people want and then selling 'em by the truckloads.

edit - Tangentially, I think Ruger and PSA have spent the last decade being the champions of the American gun owner. Both of them have brought good quality down to prices the average joe can afford, and I hope ol' Bill Ruger is spinning in his grave as we speak.

Dammit! Y'all done rationalized this to death. I've gone from "Who's asking for this?" to "I gotta have one". Somebody here's gonna owe me $300.
I predict that when the average Carolina Firearms Forum member dumps one mag through an LCP 2 22lr...they will not only buy one, but rationalize why they shouldn't buy 3.
The fun factor of this gun is going to be really high.

I love the .22LR rimfires. I also have an original LCP, which I love.
I will wait for the beta testing to get done and then wait for it to get a lot closer to $200 before I buy one.

I hear ya, but note that this is an LCP2. I have an LCP and my Dad bought an LCP2 in 380 and I was shocked at the big ergonomic improvement and the vastly better trigger on the LCP2. Made me want one to replace my LCP but I had already jumped up to a new 9mm CCH piece. Still have the basic LCP as a pocket gun. LCP2 in 22, I think they have a winner for many once they get cheaper. even better if they offer that threaded barrel.

Jimenez, Jennings, Bryco and other So Cal and AZ born clones.. It sounds harsh but after my experience and my neighbor's years of experience with countless Jimenz models, working LE evidence labs, I would take a portaband to any of them that come my way.
