Suggestions for removing rust from (2) 1911’s.

One is stainless with looks like matte/bead blast on top of slide and in serrations. Not bad but still needs to be removed.

Next one is 2 tone. Black slide with matte/bead blast frame. This one is sad to see. Freckles everywhere on a colt mark 4 80 series 😫

Both have rust inside the magwell close to the opening.

We didn’t have a barrel bushing wrench to remove the slides so I have no clue what the inside looks like.

Any 1911 smiths in the Triad that would tackle this? I’m guessing a complete disassemble then some bead blasting or chemical treatment.

Try some Mothers Mag Polish in a hidden spot and see how you like the finish after before doing the whole gun.

You should be able to remove the barrel bushing without a wrench if it is a standard barrel bushing. Check on line, I'm sure there are videos showing how to do it. It is not difficult.

I don’t have them in my possession. I went to look at them today. Honestly I would like to have someone experienced do the work. I have not owned a 1911 and definitely not a metal expert. Don’t want to cerakote them if possible.

These would be my first 1911’s if I snag them up. I would like to see if restoring them would be worth the cost/hassle.

I am watching a couple videos as we speak. I may be able to tackle these if I can get them for a good price.

I have solvents, CLP’s and Fitz 👍

IIRC fitz may be harmful to the blueing. Check label and or test on unseen area of pistol.
