So this one finally made its way to my FFL and I picked it up this morning. The guy I picked it up from said he had not fired it but he was not the first owner. The claim of never been shot since it left the factory has been thrown around. LOL It came with the matching box, tools, manual and even the S&W VCI paper.

There is only one minor flaw on the the guns seen in the first pic. A slight line in the bluing on the side of the decocker. Other than that a few marks on the grips she is pretty outstanding. According to @Jeppo it is an early 39-2 because it has the ring hammer. I found a another that was made in made in mid 1970 which a serial number of A127xxx.. This one is A149146. So about 22,000 away. Anyway I am not sure I can keep myself from shooting this one. LOL

I want a 39! Saw one at the Hickory gun show today. It was ROUGH! Would need refinish and definitely new shoes. I was still tempted! Lol...

Lol Jeppo is beside himself. 😄

Does that funky rear sight do anything else besides sighting?

Great looking pistol. I know where two nickel 39-2’s are that are beautiful.

It flies rearward into the eye of the first shooter. 😎

Beautiful!

Been seeing a lot of these lately, even at the local shows (but not like that one above!)

I see no reason at all not to shoot any gun. If you are not going to shoot it, save the money and cut a picture out of a book unless you are buying As an investment and plan to resell down the road. I’m sure there are a bunch who will disagree with me, but I find it much more fun shooting s gun than just looking at it. In many cases if you buy the right stuff, you can shoot the snot out of it and at the least, get your money back.

I like your thinking.

What good does it do to own a fine machine meant to do a job, and stopping it from doing that job?

Great example for a wonderful handgun.....enjoy it.

Oh I shoot everything I own. Some more than others but at some point they all go to the range.

For me it was a progression. I used to love to shoot and compete. Sr firearms instructor at my job and my side job was running a large range. Lots of classes and schools, etc. Then shooting got boring. Then we bought a bunch of steal, and it was fun again...for a little while. Select-fire and suppressors were the only thing that kept me smiling - until they too got boring.

Nowadays I shoot what I carry. Grabbing a 9mm or .45 or an AR or AK, etc., shooting the same ole' calibers through the same ole' platforms just doesn't do it for me anymore. And for me, shooting 5000 rounds through a Norinco AK-type doesn't get any different/better when you use an AK from a different country. But I do collect, mostly for history, love of the platforms and to a lesser degree, investment. I own many, many guns that I haven't fired and probably never will.

I spotted one at the Columbia gun show today.

Box, tools, and what not.

$1150

Saw a 39-2 at the Raleigh show today for $399. Looked like someone had used a nail to scratch "HAWK" on the side of the slide and it was pretty rough.
