I have a saiga 20in 223 converted to a AK 101'ish. So I took it out to shoot finally and the trigger reset was not engaging and or getting stuck. If I pushed the trigger or let it slap out after the pull it would do it. But it i held it then no reset. I notice that there is play side to side In the trigger group so not sure what to do or how if need be to tighten up the trigger unit. First time AK and originally installed from seller. Also the "pins" in the receiver I can push a little bit back and forward so not sure what to do about that. I will post close ups of the rifle inside to show tomorrow for now I'll post the rifle.

Are you using the "shepherds crook" type FCG retainer?

Your hammer spring is stuck under your trigger on the safety side it looks like. You can grab them with needle nose pliers to bend them down away from it if they are too close.

I do believe I do not have one I did not notice a plate on the side. Since the trigger was already in it function during dry fire and new to AK. Learning on the way!

Id recommend getting a plate, as it allows easier work on the trigger group, AND it typically keeps things a little tighter overall. ( if your on AK files, look up IxPony... Ive used his plates for a very long time, and whole heartedly recommend them without hesitation. )

If you cant finagle that spring into the proper postion, it may pay to replace it with a new one, in case that one got tweaked to far by a previous owner.

Try to make that spring sit like the picture in hp468's post ( its sitting the same in CarolinaColt's, its just a different type so it may not be as easy to "see"...)

And above all.... dont worry. AK triggers are easy to figure out.

Those are a nightmare to reinstall correctly, and on top of it it is all to easy to do it "wrong" and not realize it if you dont know better!

Heck ive seen them come in new guns wrong before 😆

So yeah, a good quality plate may not be "original" but it is an improvement.

I was able to move it back the main hammer spring just hope it stays in place will take pic when back home need to test fire again later to make sure it holds when in use!

Here Is what it looks like after. I just don't like the wear on my bcg/piston connection from the cycling inside the gas tube as can see. I'm using a rpk74M gas tube fitted to work here on my Saiga.

I wouldn't worry too much about the marks on the carrier unless it has trouble running.

Trigger spring looks better now.

Appreciate it. I was thinking since I swapped gas tubes I was thinking I might have to switch out piston rod etc for a one more suited for the RPK74M gas tube etc. Also anyone recommend or have a link to a barrel threading set and tools suitable for my rifle? Or know anyone in the area who can set it up and also make it to where I can use a bayonet by installing lug and possibly FSB? I'm not sure I can pull it off my self yet.

Update: I replaced the original Russian axis retainer pin and set aside, then installed power customs pin retainer plate. The original axis pin was not installed correctly either it seems so it was nice to upgrade it anyhow. Then I decided to try it and if works cool power customs black jack AK recoil buffer.
Now I need to decide what's next for my AK 101 clone'ish Saiga build?! I would love to have a AK74 compensator/flash hider muzzle brake installed plus to be able to use my Bulgarian AK 74 bayonet. Also install original rear sight. Not sure if I can trust myself to thread the barrel on my own since never done it and did not want my Saiga to be the guinea pig! Would be sweet to have forum members help on this if possible!
