Salisbury is closer to me, but I've never been to that one before.
Is it worth it or should I just head on up to W-S?

Who is putting on the Salisbury show, the one at the old mall?
If so, I'd go WS

Salisbury Show is Brandon Kupp’s at the old J. C. Penney’s store in the mall.

I’ve enjoyed that show in the past, but I’m going to be set up at Winston. They are close enough to each other, you could easily hit both in the same day.

I’ve always liked Brandon’s Show. Always go. The problem this time is that half of the people who usually set up at Brandon’s show will probably be setting up in Winston. I’ll be st the Winston Show since I’ve got a bayonet for a Spanish Mauser waiting on me there. Maybe I’ll do Salisbury on Sunday morning

Well, Winston has been good to me already. S&W Triple Lock, factory 4” barrel.

@BatteryOaksBilly will appreciate this.

You know Hugh???????? Hugh Damn Right!!!!!! THE preferred barrel length!! Have you ever owned one??? Once handled, you start to understand. I know you see a lot of guns come and go, that one should stay with you Pard!. I have seen 3 in my life and bought them all. I sold one to Phillip in Wagram. The other 2 will be here when I turn my toes up.

Out of curiosity I looked on GB to see what was available. All had long snouts and least expensive start was $2K. 3 on all of GB!

@Jeppo and I took the grips off this afternoon. Factory refinish in 1921, though you can’t tell looking at the gun. Also, there is a name penciled inside one of the grips along with a date from late 1908. Seems to be when it was bought.

I ended up getting my GF a new S&W M&P 9mm Shield EZ model & a holster she loves. Took it home and fired 2 mags thru it & she was ringing that steel beautifully.:D

Now I gotta try to find magazines for it... I’m not sure they are interchangeable with regular Shield models.

Then I bought a book from the Vietnam vet, it seemed interesting but I haven’t read it yet.

I regret the spices guy not being here AGAIN... :(
Crowd was roaring until 3, then died massively at 4pm.

Let’s talk about the “bargain” I saw today. One of the first tables I passed had a nice Smith .22. It was marked $625 or $650 and I asked to examine it. While doing so, the guy said he really wanted to sell it and would take $525 right then and there. I thanked him, explaining I’d just arrived and wanted to see what else there was. He pushed hard.

I checked on GB and one was very close to closing at $185 plus shipping. Those with minimum prices much over $200 were getting no bids.

By the way, most of the ammo we were all buying at WM this week was marked between 2 and 3 times what we paid. :D

The '08, first year guns are wonderful! I have one with a 4 digit serial number. It was made in '08 and shipped out for sale in '12. Poor critter laid around the factory for 4 years before selling. That $21 retail price kept the sales down.

How’d you like to double your money; today?

This one is SN 2501. I’m going to letter it when I get home.

It really was a joy to see and handle that gun yesterday. One of the amazing aspects was that the side plate screws look as if they’ve never been touched...in over 100 years. :)

Should I go back today and offer him $100?

My letter wasn't very enlightening other than year of Manufacture and shipping info. Speaking of that $75 epistle, at this moment it's whereabouts are marked as....some where inside the Gates...

IIRC, they just raised the price of “letters”. :(

Effective October 1, 2019 (Tuesday of next week), the cost of a letter of authenticity will increase to $100. Members of the S&WCA or S&WHF will pay $90; if you are a member of both organizations, the cost is $75. Requests received that are postmarked on or after October 1, 2019 will be subject to the new prices.

The new prices will apply even if the application form on our various websites has not be updated to show them.

Haven’t been to a gun show since 2013. First one I go to I walk out $1000 lighter :(
Ban gun shows
Come on. Surely you’ll be gettin’ most’a your money back in a week or two. :D

Yep. $100 a pop now. As expensive as a Colt letter, but at least the S&W letters usually are in your hand a couple or three weeks after ordering. My last Colt letter took six months.
