What is the procedure for this in a county? To get the ball rolling so to speak?
 
A friend started a Facebook group a week ago. So far, we have over 6k in the group. We have a petition online, and have close to 3k sigs so far. We've hit the local GOP committee on board. We have talked with the sheriff (a D) and he is looking over the info. We are preparing to present to the county commissioners, which are all Rs. That being said, they voted against a partially grant funded range in our county. Cleveland county gladly accepted the grant, and now has Foothills Shooting Complex.

Congrats. We're still chugging away. As I said, the group was only started a week ago. Lots of people are afraid to join. Even more don't want to sign the petition. Kinda like Trump supporters before the 2016 election.

I'm in Carteret county. I've heard counties in the western part of the state have already done this? We're not blue "yet" so we need to get it done. This Virginia thing is our thing in my opinion...
 
Asa Buck is our sheriff. A dang cool guy every time I've met him. But the board is different. Just not sure how to kick it off?

Agreed! We went to him 2 or 3 days ago. He is a huge gun guy, but is also a dem. Not that it is a bad thing, it's just... well... his constituency are dems. He IS an elected official, and will consider this in any and all decisions, I'm sure. All dems are not anti 2A. It's mainly the socialists that have invaded the party. He's a good guy, from all ive seen and heard. Hopefully, he will decide with his heart and conscience.

Alright I have a plan after talking with some friends. Gonna put a petition form in the local barber shop, dinner, etc,etc. And call the sheriff. He's a straight up approachable guy. Get this going :)
