This has really been kept quiet by the MSM

The sailor imprisoned for taking photos on the nuclear sub received a pardon from Trump.

The main source of contention was the mishandling of classified info at the highest levels (Clinton, Abedin, etc) yet he gets jail time for pictures

'splain to me why this is a good thing on it's own? I don't understand your reference to the Clinton issue - were his pictures somehow connected? If it's 'Hillary is free but this guy went to jail' then it's not relevant.

His lawyers said he knew the photos would be classified but he wanted to show his family what he did in the Navy.

I need to understand more because on the surface I can't see how giving a pass to a person who did what he did is good for the US.

This kid was going to rot in federal prison for taking a selfie on a sub. Clinton stored classified data on her personal computer then tried to cover it up by deleting everything, and was almost elected president. Unequal treatment under the law.

I don't think so. Hillary was only convicted in the court of public opinion. She was never 'under The Law'. Her cronies let her fly above it - def. not fair but also not useful info.

He broke the law, he paid the price. I don't have a problem with his pardon.

I do have a problem with the hypocrisy of how people get treated when they expose classified material, purposely or accidentally. There is a whole lot of "discretion," and if often comes down to who you know (or who you blow), or your public persona/job.

I would happily throw him back in prison if Hillary was his cellmate.

Of course HRC deserves to rot in a cell but an appeal to hypocrisy doesn't help me understand why this guy deserves a free pass for his misconduct.

Google says..

pardon wipes out the conviction while a commutation leaves the conviction intact but wipes out the punishment

It's not a free pass, he just has the rest of his sentenced suspended. It doesn't 'un-do' the conviction.

It does undo the conviction. He can now truthfully say he has never been convicted.

I think he was a bonehead and was most likely (vets, please chime in to confirm or refute) regularly reminded that any photos of sensitive areas were strictly prohibited and he did so anyways so - in his own words - he could proudly show his family what he does. It was in all likelihood prohibited to even have a camera in those areas.

I don't have a problem with his conviction. I have a problem with HRC doing far worse and getting a pass.

It might not restore his right to vote or possess firearms though because he must still answer "Yes," when asked if he was dishonorably discharged depending on whether the pardon also explicitly reversed his discharge. As CIC, POTUS can also do that.

Saucier fessed up and owned up to his mistake - paid his dues. Hillary didn't! Comey got Hillary off the hook with: “Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.” So, the FBI and the DOJ decided for her what she should say.

Next time I am stopped for speeding my defense is going to be that I did not intend to violate the posted speed limit and see if i get off paying a fine.

All her emails went to non us govt systems, Huma sent copies to her family laptop, Weiner had access to, only discovered during sexting investigation of Weiner.
Multiple servers shipped across the country, no chain of custody, her lawyers ordered backups discontinued and erased.
These systems not compliant with US Govt standards set by National Archives.
Cell phones submitted to FBI without the Sim cards. Etc etc.

If Judicial Watch did not file FOIA requests, we would never know about the private email servers.

These people are so dirty.

I always thought "Ignorance of the law is not an excuse" Not "I did not intend to be ignorant of the law"

nope, but my mind went 10 steps further for no reason. :D
