Bud was a very sweet and charismatic old fellow. He was found abandoned and desheveled with matted hair and stickies all over him. The girl who found him cleaned him up and gave him to my son the first day of his freshman year in high school. Bud was the therapist through the decline of Shari’s previous marriage, the death of Jamey’s paternal grandparents, an aunt who loved him and spoiled him, AND his dad within 3 years time, and through Jamey’s injury, amputation, and recovery…Feel free to tell us a bit about who he was and what he was like. I did whenever one of mine passed (4 times now) and it seemed to help, at least I thought so. RIP.
We had one with a similar story, 56 we found almost starved to death wandering along route 56 (hence the name). She became a fierce defender of her newfound home and was so happy she had a place it took about a year to convince her to go on walks with the others since she was afraid we would not take her back home. Bud was THE emotional support dog to beat all others….
And guarded his food bowl from the other 3 dogs almost to his last breath!! It was funny….Bud KNEW I would move him along from the bowl (there’s 4 bowl) if wasn’t eating, so he would lick the food and the bowl to try and fool us!!
Te extrañaré viejo, mi querido perro….
I’ll miss you old man. My beloved dog…
He was truly one in a million, but then again….
Aren’t they all?
