Ok I finally found a cmr30. Waiting on it to arrive at my ffl.

Few questions:

Anyone SBR one of these before? I know they do not recommend putting a suppressor on the pmr30 because of blowback. Wondering if this would run into the same issue.

Anywho, what can should I put on the end? My goal is to cut the barrel down. I will pin and weld the can to 16 inches oal so it's only a one stamp gun. Can needs to be user servicible.

Tagging

@BigWaylon because I'm sure you have some ideas.

And

@jkupp2000 because I'll get said can from you.

Not mine but gives you the idea minus the SBR part for now.

I don't get a lot of blowback on mine, but I am using a 9mm can. I don't think 22mag is the best candidate for an SBR. It's a lightweight bullet that depends a lot on velocity, and uses slow powder designed for rifle length barrels so I think it would dirty up suppressors quickly as an SBR.

I ran one of @Big Waylon cans on mine for an afternoon. You'd have to ask him how dirty it got.

I still plan on it being 16 inches but the suppressor making up the last 4-6 inches.

Based on my experience with my PS90, I'd recommend a short 5.56 can instead of a rimfire can rated for 22mag. I can't remember for sure, but I believe we ran my Sparrow on @Hammer21b's host, and not one of my Spectres.

One of those $270 Treks may be just perfect.

$270 trek? Where?

Awesome little project. I feel like this is the poor man's MP7! I saw the PSA deal the other day, not bad at all.

When I briefly considered getting one, reading across the web I concluded as @BigWaylon said, use a K rifle can rather than a rimfire.

As I mentioned in a previous thread, I just don't trust Keltec's quality and wish someone like Ruger, savage, or Smith would make something similar.

Keltec is either hit or miss! I got lucky in both my PMR and CMR. My Sub2k, not so much.

I had a pf9 that had issues. The firing pin came loose. I emailed keltec they sent me everything I needed free of charge.

I also ordered a new frame that didn't quite match the fde frame I had. They sent out a free replacement.

Mine was also a PF9. The frame broke inside after 125rds. To their credit they did fix it without issue but I'm promptly sold it.

I've put a ton of rounds through my pmr30 without any issue. My hope is my cmr stays the same as the pmr30.

I have a savage 22mag with a checkmate. I hear the bolt smack back and the Sonic down range. This is why I was thinking about a 22 can

My PMR ate anything, but my CMR won't eat some 30gr at all, and will FTF unless cleaned every 100-200 rounds. The rounds feed into the chamber at a very steep angle and once some crud builds up its difficult to even feed a round working the action manually.

22 LR cans come apart to clean, since rimfire = dirty. 5.56 cans usually don't, since high pressure. 22 mag = high(er) pressure and dirty? What's the solution?

That's where I am. I want something user servicible. Some what on the cheaper side because I'm dedicating it to the gun with the pin and weld.

You're not going to find many options for user serviceable and pin & weld.

I can get past the SBR factor in favor of user servicible.

For the cost on pinning and welding you might as well spend another $200.

True. I was trying to minimize the spend but it does make sense. Even though I'm right at 10 months on my SBR paperwork.

No need to pinch pennies when you're playing in the NFA pool as you'll only have remorse after the fact. Do it right the first time you'll be happier in the end.

I know my can gunks up quick on the CMR. Those Treks say they are made of stainless and iconel. Iconel is supposed to be this wonder alloy that is super resistant to corrosion so I'm going to assume it's safe for harsh solvents. I wonder if you could just soak it to clean it.

Sounds like a very expensive can is in my future. :(

Looks like I was right. Planning the next purchase but it seems it will be a Griffin alpha and probably a rugged Oculus since I need another 22 can anyway.

Minus the PMR, I own the CMR and Sub2K (.40 s&w), with zero problems. What problems did you have with the Sub2k? I'm debating on buying another Sub2k in 9mm.

Jamming, actually driving the case into the side of the ejection port. My PMR has the best out of the box trigger I've ever had! Absolutely amazing! I talked withKelteck and I'm sending it back for them to look at. They said they may replace it. That would be awesome!
