I'm looking at one of these three bags to use as a discreet way to carry a AR pistol. Does anyone have any experience using any of these? They all look almost identical, with some minor differences. The KDG has the most attractive price, but I'm not familiar with this brand and don't mind spending extra money for quality. Here are the three I am looking at:

KDG Apparition Bag
https://www.amazon.com/Kinetic-Development-Group-Apparition-Pack/dp/B06XY1KBCT

Grey Ghost Apparition Bag
https://www.amazon.com/Grey-Ghost-G...467&sr=1-1&keywords=grey+ghost+apparition+bag

Eberlstock Cherry Bomb
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008NCHS0W/ref=twister_B07B1JJDRK?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

The first 2 look like the same exact thing. So they are probably made in China, Indonesia or something and branded for different people. Eberlstock is known to make great gear. So I'd buy that one. If you go with one of the others I'd just buy the cheaper one. My guess is Grey Ghost is just trying to sell it for more since they are all cool and tactical.

I'm kind of a bag whore and like stuff that holds up. It's worth a few extra dollars.

I got the Grey Ghost because it doesn't scream 'tactical' (hence, discreet). I got it for a freaking lot less than that, though. I like the Eberlestock just as well.

That is kind of what I was thinking, I also like how the eberlstock has a sleeve that the weapon fits into rather than just strapping it in place. I am certainly a gear whore as well and I prefer to buy quality stuff.

Do you remember where you got the grey ghost from?

Did a little researching and it looks like all three are made here in the US.

The Eberlstock says it is waterproof 1000 Denier. Don't see what the other two are made from. 1000 Deneir is pretty good stuff. If the other 2 are 500 that might be where the price difference is.

I would bet you are right, I don't see anything in the description on the other two or even on the manufacturer's websites on what kind of material they are made out of.

Whatever you want to do pal
I like nice bags too, these styles youve posted do nothing for me, I, personally, would go a different route.

Styles get limited when you are trying to securely put an AR pistol or SBR in it. They become long and of strange proportions. Unless you go huge.

I'll own a SBR soon, though not an AR variety
What sort of length are you guys at?

I actually was thinking of this for my sbr with a bag I got recently. It's got a great rear (closest to the body) access pocket that a pistol would go well in, and the main area is sort of squared off and about 5" front to back. As well as pockets on the inside etc.

I have a pistol with an 11.5" barrel. So kind of a big pistol but closer to a SBR. With the adjustable 'brace' I really like the balance and way it handles. I don't have a bag for it yet. I have the Copper Basin Bag for my 10/22 TD. It isn't the best looking bag, or the most heavy duty thing I own, but being designed for the purpose of carrying a 10/22 TD makes it great. It has a sleeve for the rifle broken down that is felt lined and it has an extra barrel sleeve in case you want a barrel with a dot and an extra with an scope or irons. I'll probably grab a 2nd barrel at some point. It also has compartments for mags, ammo and extra things. So like the bags above it may not be beautiful, but it is really functional.

I have a 7.5in .300 Blackout. The benefits to a "pistol" over an SBR is that I can carry that pack around with me if I wanted to and be covered with my permit, cant to that with a rifle, at least not in NC anyway.

I did not know that, had never thought about carrying my sbr before outside of to the range

Exactly why I got the pistol. Loaded and concealed is perfectly legal. It also makes crossing state lines a lot less tricky.

Also with how good the "braces" are getting now days, I have zero desire to ever own a SBR anymore.

Agreed. I put an SB Tactical on mine and it works great. I know there are other options that may be better, but I really don't foresee really needing an upgrade.

I'm using the SBA3 from them and its the best brace our right now IMO. Add a Law Tactical folder and it makes for a very compact package.

Decided to go with the Eberlestock, had some amazon reward points saved up so went ahead and ordered it. I’ll post some pics and let y’all know what I think when it arrives.

Cool. Post a nice review and pics. This project is in my future. I was reading about someone's 6.5 Grendel pistol project and I might need that in my life as soon as possible. :D

I'm thinking a batman book bag. ;)

Once I kept a 10/22 in a bat bag when my kid was in little league. Would be kind of curious during the winter though, just like the Blackhawk Diversion tennis racquet looking case I use now.

im always worried someone will ask me about tennis. I've been considering something that looks like a computer bag.
No one's ever asked me about my "racket".

There's always a violin or dulcimer case.

See if you can find the idiot that made those vagina hats to make a vagina backpack. You gotta admit nobody would ever suspect you would be carrying a gun much less an evil full semi-@auto black one :D

Just some quick picks and thoughts. I’ll post more as get more use out if it. It is a very solid pack, stiching is excellent and feels very rugged. Feels almost overbuild for what it’s aupposed to do, but I guess that’s why the price is what it is, and after handling the pack, I’m completely fine with that I paid for it.

This is definitely a purpose built pack and you are only going to have room for the essentials. Maybe a best a light day hiker pack or get home type bag. You aren’t going on a week long camping trip with this bag, unless you are an extreme minimalist, but it wasn’t designed for that anyway. So far I have my “pistol”, a couple extras mags and a minor trauma kit in it. There is certainly plenty of more room for things, and I’ll post some pics once I get it completely loaded out and have carried it for awhile.

Anyway, here it is for now....

Thanks, I like it a lot so far, very nicely made bag. I really haven’t carried it too much, other than to and from my truck and a couple short hikes. I really like having it in my truck for road trips; it’s a lot of firepower that I could grab and go quickly with. I added a small trauma kit to one of the pockets and just got some G code scorpion pouches for the outside compartment.

Yeah, thats slick. So sort of a "go bag" if you will. Don't wanna hunt for stuff and have one bag. Ive been around a few of those EBS bags with some of my LRS friends. Good gear. Bring a premium used too.

Yeah, definitely a go bag. You could put some stuff in it for light hiking but your definitely not going on a long camping trip out if it.

As said above an AR pistol travels across state lines so much easier than a SBR so I have both lowers ... my Form 1 SBR Spikes multi lower and my pistol lower which is actually an Aero Precision lower marked “Pistol” from the factory. I do fill out a stack of Form 20’s to be able to transport my SBR to various states but unless I’m traveling for a class or shoot I go with the short upper on my pistol lower ... which now like Defek’s has a Laws Folding Adapter and SB Tactical brace in the works ... in a messenger bag. I see he also is running a 20 round mag which to me is easier for bagging mine ... along with an eextra mag and sometimes a suppressor.

Now I have had a couple unfriendly LEOs (one from Cary and she was a bitch ... one from Wilmington and he was to new to the job) tell me they do not recognize an AR pistol as being covered by our CHPs because of the definition in the NC Statutes of what a handgun is ... being a firearm meant to be fired one handed so while it is a pistol it is not a handgun while all handguns are pistols not all pistols are handguns??? They didn’t want to reply but I asked if they fired their service sidearm one handed or two handed ... but both still came back at me saying an AR pistol isn’t covered under the CHP to which I then told them all my friends that are LEOs or retired LEOs said they see them fall under our CHPs. The Cary LEO said if she saw me she’d arrest me and let the judge settle it.
