I have a tax stamp for a can - is it the same process for a SBR?

Take the same amount of time? Same price?

Or is a different type of tax stamp between the two?

Every NFA stamp is $200, except for an AOW Form 4...which is $5 (and red instead of green).

As mentioned above, it depends if you're buying or making. Most people make SBRs (Form 1) and buy suppressors (Form 4), but you can also make a suppressor and buy an existing SBR. And if I sold any of the items I made after filing a Form 1, they would transfer on a Form 4.

The big wait difference right now is individual vs entity, not F1 vs F4.

The same forms are used for all NFA items. Same paperwork to buy an M-16 as it is to buy a suppressor.

What do you mean, individual v entity?
People used to file as an entity (trust/corp/LLC) to avoid having to get CLEO signature.

41F changed all that, and also caused new forms to be required for everybody, plus additional forms for those filing as an entity.

Entities used to be quicker because you could use EForms, and because no background checks are being done. Currently, there's as much as a 9 month difference in how long is takes based on forms I've seen reported. (I've seen individual from June of 2017, but nothing from an entity since September of 2016).

Ah gotcha.
Yeah, I set up a trust when i did my can

How hard to go pistol to SBR?

On an AR?

1. File Form 1
2. Wait for approval
3. Remove pistol buffer tube (and brace if installed)
4. Replace with standard buffer tube and stock

They still haven't set up EForms for entities? Have they mentioned a timeline for when this will go live?

Not for post-41F. Haven't seen a timeline, but have seen it mentioned as in the works.

Not on an AR, but I guess it'd be the same process

You folks are a huge help!

Yep same process. Just don't make whatever changes that would classify it as a rifle until the form is approved.
