I have a Burris 3x9 on a Ruger #1 that I am thinking about putting on a 223. What scope would you suggest for the 45-70? Would like to be able to shoot out to 300 yards with a 100 zero.

OR would you put a set of peep sight on the gun? I have a New England Custom Gun peep sight for the rear. Not sure if I can use the front sight that is on the gun.

A reasonable 2x7 or 3x9 would do great. Don't buy to cheap with the 45-70 recoil.

…… your 3x9 might be OK, just gotta give it a try.

On a 45-70..... a fixed 4, or 6, but a 1x4 though 1x6 might fit the bill too. If you want a ranging reticle in a Leupold….. give them the bullet and velocity, and they might be able to make a ranging reticle just for your rifle.

CZfool has an ideal scope imo.

@CZfool68 - Need specs on your scope and model. what condition is it in? More I think about on the 45-70 might be a match. Got 2 $100 bills left over. If every thing goes well with the sell of my down riggers i will take the scope. Are you good with that?

Leupold VX3i 1.75-6x32. It is in as good shape as the rifle I sent you. :D

Sure I'll take $200 if you want it, just let me know.
