By order of the Most High Governor Northam.

We were signed up to go and had six tables of our own in the VFW. I'm actually a bit surprised it took him this long. This is a HUGE blow to the economy of that whole part of Virginia.

Sigh....

I’m curious...what restrictions would there have been for an NC dealer to sell to VA residents? Contrarily, how about NC residents buying from a VA dealer at a VA show?

NC dealer can:

1. Set up and take orders and payment, but has to ship the firearms after going home again.
2. Transfer his inventory before the show to a VA dealer, who has to take payment, do the paperwork, etc.
3. Sell C&R firearms and can transfer them at time of sale to a licensed individual. Whether the transfer dealer can transfer them to the buyer at that point, or has to wait until later, is a gray area.
4. Sell all the antiques and non-firearms he/she wants.

I usually save up pre-1899 antiques specifically for Hillsville. The rest of what I would have taken would have been C&R or non-gun. I would not have taken any modern firearms.

A buyer from NC can:

1. Buy all the long guns he wants from a VA dealer, or have them transferred through a VA dealer if buying from a VA resident who isn't a dealer.
2. Buy all the non-gun stuff he wants.
3. Buy any guns he wants and have them shipped to a NC dealer for transfer. Or, if he knew an NC dealer there, said NC dealer can take possession and transfer them to the NC buyer at that dealer's licensed premises.

Sounds very complicated.

How about an N.C. resident buying jerky? :D

Oh, I guess this must be covered by #2. ;)

That will be a huge hit to Hillsville, Galax, Mt Airy, Carroll and Surry counties.

It’s really not.

You can buy, and take possession of, a long gun out of state, from a dealer in that state - and this would also include buying from an individual but having it processed by the FFL

If you buy anything else, you’ll need to deal with an NC FFL, back in NC

Anything that crosses a state line requires an FFL...what the item is determines which state that FFL needs to be in

note: that explanation excludes anything C&R related, as I’ve never learned those laws

When I was in Nebraska last month, I was at a gun store and asked about buying a long gun from them and they stated they cannot sell to anyone out of state. Not sure if it was just this stores policy or some kind of funky state law.

...or they just don’t know the law, which is (unfortunately) entirely possible.

Well, just got it confirmed. Northam sent down orders through the VA Dept. of Health that they would seek injunctive and criminal action against the town if they proceeded with the event, including issuing permits to the gun show. The VFW where the gun show is held got a similar letter.

I used to go every year from 1996-2007. Never bought any guns because, most used guns were $100 over retail for a new one.

I mostly bought tools and a little military surplus. My in-laws have a house in the area , so it was a vacation type thing.

IF there was no gun show ... just the street/flea market sale wonder if King Nortie would NPC one down so hard since all the tents and tables would be outside spread out along the streets and in the parking lots and fields?

This news is a bit depressing. I was made aware of the existence of the Hillsville, VA event by @C111 and I was thinking of spending a few days up that way. I now don't have to talk the wife into it, though. :)

While in VA this weekend Jenny and I perused several antiques stored. Overheard one angry conversation between proprietor and patron about how permits were being issued for yard sales, but not tables at flea markets. Also noticed the great mask debate was about 60/40, 60 had zero flucks to give about masks or complying with the order to post about the mask requirements, the other 40 were screeching Karens.

Bet if the DNC was being hosted in VA this year, it wouldn’t get cancelled.

Wouldn't the 60% be the "Karens"?

Just my observation. One Karen demanded I put on a mask to enter her restaurant. I asked if I was expected to wear a mask while I ate. She said that I could take my mask off once I got to the table. We put on our masks and she paraded us through a sea of maskless patrons happily eating arriving at the safety of our own table where we could also take off our masks.

Now seriously. What kind of jackassery logic is that?

My family and I walked out of a restaurant this past week at the beach. The booth was literally 10-15 feet from where we were standing and he wouldn't sit us because we weren't wearing mask. I said I can almost touch the booth from here. He said he would be glad to give us a mask if we wanted. The look on his face was funny, I guess he hasn't had many walk out.

I was out west for two weeks recently. It was a nice reprieve from all of the mask "Karens" back here at home in NC.

Only exception was New Mexico (Albuquerque). Luckily we were driving through and only stayed the night. That place SUCKS!

It's like the old story of the dog who gives up chasing the rabbit.... the dog's buddy mocks him for not catching the hare. Dog says "I was running for my lunch, he was running for his life".

These places are trying to stay in business. Like it or not, they have rules they need you to follow to keep operating. It's no burden to assist them in their endeavor, but failing to help them risks them being closed down, or worse yet, called out publicly in today's cancel-culture. They are running for their lives, you are running for your lunch.

I'm on the side of "I don't care if it's scientifically sound, I'll do what it takes to help places out and not give any grief to the people who are about to cook for me".

Heck, I went in a Golden Corral this past weekend... from the woman at the door requiring masks AND seeing to it everyone hand-sanitizes before getting three steps in the door, to the masks, patrons needing gloves, table spacing, etc..... not only do I have no problem with it... I PREFER it. The only thing negative about the experience were the groups of people who clearly took the "f--k you, I ain't gunna do it" path.

Again.... the anti-maxskers are the Karens in cases like these. Karens want special rules and special treatment and are more than happy to tell you what they will accept, regardless of the written and unwritten rules of behavior of the people they are near.
I bet the maskers will be the 1st ones in line for the loading of the boxcars too.

Actually the karens are the ones turning in their friends & neighbors for not complying with some unenforceable gibberish muttered by these liberal coc... politicians that just need lynching.

This is the reason I have some masks with some not too nice words on them.

It's the jackassery logic that the governor and health department have mandated so the restaurants can be open.

Just wait ... it would not surprise me to see an order to what masks are acceptable coming. No more bandannas, neck gaiter/balaclavas, masks with exhalation valves, etc. MSM and CDC have been talking about this for the last week or two especially with a couple airlines not allowing them on flights ... it would not surprise me for it to gain traction with Karens and Coopers.

No. The anti-maskers just want to be left alone and feel they should be in control of their own health care decisions (hey, my body my choice right?). And now there's a study that shows some face coverings may be worse than no mask at all. Yet I guarantee anyone going into Wal-Mart wearing a neck gaiter won't be told to leave or wear something different. Same goes with the mesh "non-masks".

Finally, what are these rules of behavior you refer to?

I found a pair of sheer pink lace panties that I was going to use to make a mask out of to snub the "just wear something over your face" crowd.

Jenny vetoed it.

Other than having a Demoncrat governor, insanely high crime rate and few jobs, it's a great state that I loved for 25 yrs before coming here. Albuquerque is a big, crowded crime-ridden town that I'd not live in again though.

Now, northern NM? I'd be there in a heartbeat if I could convince my dear spouse...

Maybe she just likes to see you wearing them and didn't want you to cut them up.
