He’s not your buddy, and you need to watch what you say and do around them, sure. But I’d say the same about my boss, or a lot of people I interact with daily. But there’s been more than one situation where I was glad to see them show up.
It’s a dangerous and difficult job, especially right now, and as long as he’s acting within the law and the oath he’s taken, he’s got my respect and support.

Gun buyback brought in more than 500 firearms Saturday in Winston-Salem
Winston-Salem police bought 516 guns from local residents during the city’s gun buyback event Saturday at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds, the city said Tuesday.

You think the police would be upset if I hung out and offered a little more for some of the guns. I’m willing to bring hot chocolate and donuts. I will bring a kid helper and sell fried chicken also.

The event was part of a citywide effort to reduce gun violence in the community, according to a statement from Winston-Salem. Police accepted unloaded guns with no questions asked.
The $99,000 used to buy the guns came from the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Relief Fund.
Couple stupid questions here, but....
1. How does "buying back" guns reduce gun violence in the community, since people who are bringing in the guns aren't likely to be the ones causing the violence?
2. WTF are they using funds supposedly dedicated for COVID relief being used this way?
