Seen any good movies recently?

The wife and I saw 'La La Land' last week. By definition it is a musical; however, 'Singing in the Rain' has nothing to worry about.

Watched the hateful eight last night, and that Harry Potter prequel, love hateful eight second time I've watched it, I'm just done with the JK Rowling stuff, the wife loved it I got up and left the room several times came back in and it was still on , didn't think it was ever going to end,

Excellent movie! One of my new all time favorites.

I haven't had time for any movies, lately.

I'm looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Thor:Ragnarok this May and Novermber, from the Marvel end. And Logan, this March, can't forget that. My youngest daughter will be all about Guardians, I'm sure!

I'm looking forward to Wonder Woman and the Justice League this June and November from the DC end.

Kong: Skull Island sometime this year. My son will be champing at the bit for this one.

Alien: Covenant. Gotta have my Alien fix! I remember seeing the first Alien movie at a drive-in!

Spiderman: Homecoming. LOVE me some Spidey! That'll be one to see with my oldest daughter!

The Dark Tower comes out...a movie based on Stephen King's Dark Tower series. I'm iffy on this one...I liked the first few books in the series, but the last couple...especially the last one, SUCKED. This movie is supposed to follow the end of the last book in the series and that book was so disappointing I was barely able to finish it.

I am surprised nobody has mentioned John Wick 2 - worth seeing?

It's pretty good, the gunplay is all top notch. JW made some poor tactical decisions. The technical stuff was over done if anything, every time he picked up a weapon he would do function checks, reload drills and multiple press checks.

Elaine and I saw The Great Wall this week. Very good flick. I didn't think about all the computer generated stuff until after the movie was over.

If you've got kids Lego Batman is pretty good. Not as funny as The Lego Movie but still good. They poke fun at all the other Batman movies that have ever came out, including the Adam West TV show.

My recommendation would be to walk in 5 min after the actual movie starts. The beginning of it was bad enough I wasn't sure I'd last through the whole thing. Pretty good movie after that.

Last night I watched TRAITOR for the first time in about 6 years...really good.
Don Cheadle is a Muslim undercover for the FBI to infiltrate a terrorist group.

Its just really dang good.

Cheezy 80's movie
"gotcha"

Forgot all about that movie!!
Where did you see it at?

Watched , split, last night on Showbox, very interesting movie, camo by Bruce Willis at the end where he references, unbreakable worth the watch for you guys that have the showbox add-on,

Watched 10 Cloverfield Lane on Amazon two weeks ago
Thought it was better than Cloverfield, but still not that great.

Same night I watched Captain Fantastic.
Now that was pretty good.
Quick synopsis - guy (vigo mortisen) has a wife and family, they live off the grid. Wife gets sick, goes to city to try to be cured (find out later its mental, plus all of this is in the first 10 minutes).
Guy has to take family to funeral.

This family has been sheltered from 'the real world' but the kids are incredibly smart.
Its deep. Its funny at times.
I liked it.
But its different.

Watched Bridge of Spies, it was excellent.

Passengers was pretty good, as far as original concept....Ehhhh.....Not so much. It seemed a hodgepodge of several sci-fi lost in space movies. A bit of Solaris, a touch of Mission to Mars, The Martian, even a bit of Pandorum without the crazy cannibals.
Different spin, yes.

I started Bridge of Spies when i had the flu but then fell asleep, Ive been meaning to pick it back up where I last remember.
I like Hanks and love the subject.

Life had a good cast and good concept (essentially a variant of Alien, which is a classic), but they botched it terribly in the execution. While the movie had some good, suspenseful moments, there were too many plot holes to suspend disbelief. The alien was just too clever, powerful and impervious, and the scientists were just too stupid and irrational (WTF the guy is smuggling the alien into the room that they plan on sheltering in, and the others don't even call him out on it). At least with Alien (and Aliens), it was a fair fight. This was like watching a BJJ black belt toying with a bunch of high school wrestlers.

Ended up being a waste of acting talent and a large budget.

The first half was pretty funny. The last 1/4 or so of the movie had too much modern/marxist moralizing ("it takes a village" - historically, that village was an actual village of extended family and family friends of one's own tribe. Today, Marxists mean that as it takes a government run "village" that includes Marxist teachers, social workers, etc.) and political correctness.

Watched a handful in the last week or so:
•John Wick 2 - meh...plenty of action, not really any better or worse than the first
•Suicide Squad - not bad, not good...a lot weirder than I expected
•Beauty & the Beast - watchable if somebody else in the family is interested
•Doctor Strange - visually stunning, but...umm...strange
•Gifted - not too bad
•Hidden Figures - fantastic, definitely good for the family
•Fate of the Furious - if you liked the last couple, you'll like this one...same outrageous storyline and action
•POTC Dead Men Tell No Tales - again, if you liked the last one, you'll like this one...I still think Depp's acting job as Capt Jack is one of the best roles ever

I watched Hidden Figures, Split and The Shack recently. All three were really good but, in an effort not to give anything away, I felt The Shack was the best of the three (with Hidden Figures a very close second)

Keanu Reeves is a very mediocre actor, but his gun handling skills are the best in Hollywood. Like the first movie, the gun handling is much more realistic than anything else out of Hollywood, without all the fake cocking sounds (like the ridiculously common sound of a revolver hammer being cocked anytime someone draws a pistol - The Walking Dead, I'm looking at you). Pistols do run out of ammo, shotguns don't hold a lot of shells and loading them in the middle of combat isn't easy, etc. He even does a one-handed chamber check at one point - never seen that in a movie/tv show before.

And the CQB pistol handling techniques are pretty interesting. Not sure if this is real technique taught by reputable instructors or a technique imagined and choreographed for the John Wick movies.

Saw Wonder Woman in the theater yesterday. Probably one of the best comic movies I have ever seen....and that chick is hot as hell.

Just left the theater, and have to agree on both points.

And surely I'm not the only person that thought of you knuckleheads during the wartch scene. :D

Pink Velvet
A Viv Thomas Production

Nice story line though B list actors, but top notch cinematography. I would recommend this with Dolby surround sound 5.1 or better.
:D

Thank you for taking up the challenge of knowledge transference. [Not everyone who takes the title of teacher actually has the ability to transfer knowledge. I'm sure you have met some of those in your career.]

The last week of school is an exercise in futility.

Keanu is a legit badass shooter thanks to Taran Butler and the girls. Plenty of videos out there like the one above. I thought it was a shit movie, but very entertaining. Basically a 3-gun shooter's wet dream. I mean, come on. The scene through the tunnels in italy? He literally shoots a 3-gun course full of bad guys. I wish I had the money and connections to get that kind of training though...
