Shooting in Las vegas on the strip.

It is really weird they don't show some random pictures of the dude walking around doing normal stuff with a voice-over saying "who knew such evil lurked in the heart and mind of this guy..." sorta crap.

The fact that in one of the most surveilled cities in the world (No.2 or 3, I think, with London being 1st) there has to be footage that can easily be released to the public that shows Lurch VanNutter roaming around, arm candy/accessory whore optional, cruising around in his flip flops destroying a buffet bar, sling chips, something for the Love of Mary.

There is no way on god's Green Earth that all the surveillance/security camera (both municipal and corporate) footage is marked " Too sensitive to the ongoing investigation" to be shown on /in the press, both print and electronic. No way possible...and authorities of all stripes wonder why public trust in them is at an all time low....

I am not a lawyer, but I think I remember the Chief of LVPD say in the first couple PCs that they were withholding the video based on the exposure of the hotel and city employees to litigation. No doubt the legal teams are lining up the plaintiffs for a big class action suit.

But I would think that at the least some of the isolated video could be released in the name of the FBI at this point.

So, in short, there 's something to be gleaned from the video.

I'm surprised they didn't claim it was for the children.

Either excuse is just that...an excuse.

A still picture of him sitting at a poker machine with everyone around him blurred out would not expose anyone to anything. You know, like these photos that it took me all of 3 seconds to find online:

Or did that expose TGI Fridays to a lawsuit?

Not in the least.

They just lie to the docile masses.

Lots of people have a theory on this case. Here is one from John Ringo (not the Beatles guy, but an author). He goes by the idea that a person, especially in a depressed state, uses drugs which have a violent interaction. His explanation: he claims his wife (Miriam) suffered the same consequences.

In his long Facebook posting he describes how his wife once afflicted made lists of sexual predators in their city that she planned to kill. Like people say, everybody has a theory. There will be three new ones tomorrow.

I think there's a lot of info that possibly supports a medical condition in the killer. As the above article describes the Texas Tower killer suffered from a brain tumor. I don't think it was detailed what meds he had taken. The Las Vegas killer shot himself in the head, so doctors may never recover what his psychosis may have been. What will hamper any investigation of medical issues will be the lobbyists from Big Pharma who will fight any connection with known pain meds. Here is the view from Jeff Lee (CFO of a midwestern corp)

"In all likelihood, he was born a psychopath as was his father, who was so diagnosed.

"Such a condition does not automatically mean someone will do something antisocial, most psychopaths who are raised in loving environments are able to at least mimic the behavior of neurotypicals. In fact, to be 68 years old and not have a record certainly implies he has been able to behave within the norms until now.

"However, there are always underlying differences between thoughts we consider healthy and normal and those of someone with his genetic background. It could also be exacerbated by recent trauma, side-effects of prescribed drugs, alcohol abuse, or depression. We may never know the triggers in this case, but specialists should bring about a portrait of the type of suffering that drove him to this very sad result."

Vegas Shooter Used Hotel Freight Elevator, His Reno Home Was Broken Into

More than a week after Stephen Paddock carried out the deadliest mass shooting in US history, Las Vegas Police and the FBI still have few clues about what motivated the millionaire semi-retired professional gambler to murder 59 people, and – perhaps more disturbing – no idea why he ended his reign of terror after just 11 minutes.

Terrorism expert reveals ‘terrifying’ reason feds might not admit ISIS was behind Vegas shooting
The Islamic State took credit for the Las Vegas massacre, but investigators say the shooting has no connection to Islamic terrorism. But one terrorism expert explained in an interview with Newsweek magazine the “terrifying” reason why he believes federal investigators may not admit the Islamic State was behind the attack if they were.

What did he say?
Michael S. Smith II, a well-respected terrorism and intelligence analyst who advises government officials, told Newsweek:

If Islamic State did indeed cultivate [shooter Stephen] Paddock, as it has claimed was the case, the group surely has some evidence of its engagements with him. If it does, it may be the case the group is waiting on FBI and other agencies to dismiss its claim of responsibility for the Las Vegas attack before posting contradictory evidence online for the world to see.
[The] Islamic State has been very focused on undermining confidence among civilians in the West that their technologically-superior governments are competent managers of our collective security.

Waiting to release evidence that Paddock was an Islamic State “soldier” serves two purposes, Smith explained:
  • To undermine the U.S. intelligence community and their ability to monitor terrorist activity and prevent potential attacks
  • And to bolster the Islamic State’s image as it continues to face massive territorial losses in Iraq and Syria
But the U.S. intelligence community understands this. So instead of being undermined by ISIS, completely dismissing the group’s claim undermines them and forces the group to release evidence. But without concrete evidence, combined with recent PR failures, ISIS loses all-around.

What else did Smith say?
Smith also explained in an op-ed for Foreign Policy magazine that there is credibility to the terrorist group’s claim for five reasons:
  1. ISIS has never claimed responsibility for an attack in the West that already materialized because doing so would be at odds with the group’s strategy
  2. Taking claim for an attack that has no connection to them hurts their credibility in the West among potential recruits. It would also give Islamic State competitors, like Al-Qaeda, more ammunition to discredit them
  3. Being that Paddock was a 64-year-old white millionaire, he didn’t fit the typical Western ISIS convert, making him a “trophy” for the Islamic State to tout
  4. Terrorists in confirmed ISIS-channels on encrypted networks discussed the Vegas shooting shortly after it happened in similar fashion to previous attacks
  5. The Vegas attack “shares some patterns with previous attacks, many of which followed a call to arms by Baghdadi or another top leader within ISIS”
“The shooting in Las Vegas happened only days after Baghdadi released a message encouraging his followers to incite more violence in the United States,” Smith explained, noting that many ISIS attacks around the world also happened shortly after a call to arms from top terrorist leaders, like the Orlando Pulse night club shooting in 2016.

Have there been any other recent ISIS-related attacks in the West?
Giving more credence to Smith’s fifth point is the fact that there were a number of ISIS-related attacks in the West during the same period as the Las Vegas shooting.
The terrorist group claimed responsibility for an attack in France on Oct. 1 that left two dead. There was an “ISIS-inspired” attack outside a mosque in Birmingham, England, on Sept. 30 that left a 14-year-old boy in the hospital. Also on Sept 30, a man with an Islamic State flag stabbed a cop and ran four people down in Edmonton, Canada.

MGM Resorts disputes Las Vegas police timeline of shooting

Debra DeShong, a spokeswoman for MGM Resorts International, said in a statement Tuesday. "We cannot be certain about the most recent timeline that has been communicated publically, and we believe what is currently being expressed may not be accurate."

And getting to the bottom line, which is MGM's motive for an accurate timeline.

“So Mandalay Bay knew of the existence and presence and workability of the automatic weapon six minutes before he started killing people. That should have triggered an enormous response,” he (Judge Andrew Napolitano) said, considering the argument lawyers could make to a jury, if it gets to that point.

Point 1 - ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack on the casino in the Phillipines this past June. There so far has been no credible evidence they were complicit. Maybe they were responsible, but that event was debatable. Did they brainwash the gambler who pulled it off? Now that would be quite a series of events.

We'll probably see that when they decide to show the Sandy Hook video.
or just some non-redacted photos with actual dead people (supposedly adults died too, it's okay no chidren were harmed in the making of that photo) or the gallons of blood that would've been produced by that many humans dying in the classroom below. Disregard the hoarding a K-1 teacher produced on that filing cabinet and all the big non-kindergarten words on the papers all over.

Has anything been brought up regarding the ease of breaking windows out in the hotel and the lack of any sensor, alarm or other detection regarding that?
Would seem to be a safety and liability issue even before the shooting.

Vegas Hotel Worker Warned Police Of Shooter Before Massacre Began

In one of the most shocking developments to emerge in the week-and-a-half since Stephen Paddock killed 59 people and wounded more than 500 others during the worst mass shooting in US history, NBC is reporting that a maintenance worker said Wednesday he told hotel dispatchers to call police and report a gunman had opened fire with a rifle inside Mandalay Bay before Paddock began firing on the Harvest country music festival below.

Here's what the view looks like from the 60th floor of the Delano, the L shaped resort behind the Mandalay Bay.

He's left out one vector - the distance from the recording device to the impact area. If one string impacted close to the camera and another string impacted just 75 yds farther away it would cause a similar variation in lag time.

Correct. His math would only be accurate if firing at a known target. For triangulation you need three or more points of data. His math holds two. Time delay signatures picked up from what may of been a fixed point, and known (after the fact) location of shooter. The third as you stated would be distance from microphone to each corresponding impact/gunshot.

Well the man is getting publicity and likes I guess.

Is it getting weird because the news is false, or because it is getting weird? That is the question.

When your "news story" devolves into random Kennedy assassination theory to explain what happened recently. Gonna have to go with fake news. Also they need a better editorial staff.

Are there possibilities out there still? Sure. Don't think those nutters have the answers though

My question, which is the question that I pose often after something like this happens is simple.

Most of you guys carry guns concealed cause bad people do bad things. Almost always without warning.

Why is it so often hard to believe that a bad man decided to take a bit of initiative become head of the class?

Attacks like this are not too hard to plan guys.
1) find a group of people. Preferably unarmed.
2) find a weapon. Bombs or firearms work well
3) take out the oh so squishy and mostly defenseless targets.
4) become famous. Thanks 24 hour news.

Is it getting weird because the news is false, or because it is getting weird? That is the question.
That Whiskey Tango Texas crowd are a bunch of liars and bugs...They've created a load of crap, Alex Jones style and now they're in Mommie's basement or some other dark, dank little place, "Jerking each other's Gherkins" to the reactions they've caused.

People like that and Alex Jones need to discover there are four corners to most every room, find one and go over to it lay down and lick their sacks like the Parvo infected little curs they are.
