Shooting @ Santa Fe TX high school

I may be totally wrong, if so please correct me, but in the Soviet Union a lot of the artists were not treated well because they might cause dissent or another idea that doesnt go along with what the ruler wants.
I just feel like I remember something about many artists being suppressed during the USSR's reign.
Not to say they ALL were, but it was pretty censored.

Hell, look at Russia today, Pussy Riot, an all girl..."band" is heavily censored and targeted by the government for their anti-Soviet/anti-Putin views.

Yep. Read the Gulag Archipelago. Ir any good history of what they did to people that would not conform or be used as propaganda tools.

Artist working towards socialist propaganda = good. Artist working on their own agenda = not in line with the state. Our very own Black Mountain housed a few notable Commie era Eastern Bloc/Russian artists that fled there for making work that didn't advance the social cause.

Sounds a lot like Hollywood, the media and Dems huh? Speak out against the party and you are destroyed.

Allow me to expand on my post above. I've stated this many times on a few forums regarding mass shootings that involve innocent civilians being escorted out of a building(s) by the authorities after such an incident.

In my opinion, it's asinine for law enforcement to carry out procedures that group people together outside in the open after, or possibly during, an active shooter(s) scenario. It's a stupid move and eventually it will prove fatal for not only the civilians being herded out in the open, but also the law enforcement officers in control and actively participating in a bad procedure and a terrible policy.

As soon as the varsity team replaces the real JV team, aka school kids, and things really get real, unfortunately, a bad wake up call will present itself.
I agree. In the 90's in Fl, daughter's school was having tons of bomb threats. Standard procedure was to evacuate the students to the football stadium while the school was searched. After one threat, I talked with the administration and suggested they have multiple evac plans, and pick one at random each event. Otherwise, one day someone would first plant a bomb in the stadium and let the school bring all the victims together. They blew me off. I retired and moved to NC. The next fall, our neighbors son was sitting on a real bomb IN THE STADIUM when they had a bomb threat. (sure glad I was here with an ironclad alibi. . . .)

Luckily it didn't go off. That's what it took for them to change their procedures.

We as a nation have a penchant for locking the barn door after the horse is gone, or fighting the LAST war at first. SMH...

In a country founded on the basis of comedy, they would be dead for failing as comedians. Kimmel is a blubbering fool, and Corbet is only surpassed by Stewart as somebody that should be placed in a work camp. I think Bill Hicks is likely one of the only funny openly liberal comedians that ever existed.

So when Colbert was on The Daily Show and later on The Colbert Report, I was a big fan. Though I don't agree with what either Stewart or Colbert are selling, you need to pay attention to the opposition and they delivered it in an entertaining fashion.
When Colbert took over the late night slot, I was happy. I thought it would be good. I was wrong. I'm not sure if it's him or the network, but it's too much.

Regarding Kimmel: He rose to stardom via women in bikinis jumping on trampolines. I don't take anything he says seriously.

A blonde girl and her mother were being interviewed and said she will not be going back to school ever. My kid, sometimes way wiser than his 17 yrs, says what’s gonna happen when she’s an adult in the real world and has to go into places where there is no locked doors, resource officer, Federal or state laws banning guns, etc? Is she gonna freak and not get a job? Stay locked up in her house and not go to the grocery store or such? What does she expect ... the police to escort her to places where she doesn’t feel safe? He then tells me that his high school teachers have been demanding that LEOs come to school after classes and patrol the teacher parking lot because they are scared someone is going to attack them. Our society is so wussified and becoming even more dependent on government ... local to fed ... for everything. Self reliance is not being taught to today’s generations ... Heaven help this country and world.

When i saw her interview yesterday, i said... 'next poster child' even with the ring in her nose.

Their main tactic is snark and they both come across as sanctimonious cowards. I saw clips of them interviewing Obama, and afterwards you could have identified their tongue prints on his colon; it was repulsive, and they are enemies of free men, as far as I am concerned.

As far as needing to know what the left is thinking, I can peer into my bowel movements like a crystal ball and get a pretty damn good idea.

Acevedo said he was “not ashamed to admit I’ve shed tears of sadness, pain and anger” after the shooting.

“I know some have strong feelings about gun rights, but I want you to know I’ve hit rock bottom,” he said in a Facebook post, adding he would “de-friend” anyone who posted anything about “guns aren’t the problem.”

Sounds like someone is ready to compromise everyone else’s rights to make himself feel better.

OMG. He might unfriend me? Whatever will I do? Oh wait I don't have a Facebook account. Never mind. Carry on.

Nope. He's underage. They can't cook him. Life in prison is the max...
...and he can face a parole board after 40 years of incarceration, if he's still alive at that point and doesn't do anything bad during his time behind bars.

He's probably going to wish he followed through on his desire to commit suicide.

Edit to add, just saw this article on MSN, but here is the original: https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/21/us/texas-santa-fe-school-shooting/index.html

Uh, Oh ...
But it's unclear whether all the victims were shot by the suspect, or whether some were shot by deputies during the crossfire. Trochesset said authorities are waiting for the medical examiner's autopsies to make that determination.

Apparently he was in a 25 minute long stand off / gun fight with the cops.

So how much ammo did this kid have on him for a 5 + 1 (assuming) 870 and a 5-6 rd revolver? 25 min shootout sounds straight out of a movie. If this kid really was loaded for bear to duke it out with 2 cops for that long, I shudder to think how many more casualties he could have inflicted without their intervention.

Remember that LEOs are to apprehend the suspect not shoot to kill unless there is an immediate danger to public safety or their own. They wanted him alive so there was likely long pauses in fire. If there had been an eminent threat that 25 minutes would likely have been cut to a “mad minute” and the shooter would have been DRT.

An active shooter isn’t an imminent threat? What is?

Never post that you are shooting to kill. You are shooting to stop the threat and no more than that. In practice there is no difference but in court there is a huge difference.
