I have Googled my brains out and can't find what I want so I'll resort to posting.
My Ruger Charger project currently has a cheap Leaper's fixed 6X and it's okay but the Mil Dot crap is very distracting and useless on a .22.
What I'm looking for is a 6X scope with an overall length of 8 to 10 inches, it can be fixed or variable power, doesn't matter. Before everyone gets worked up I have fixed 4X scopes but not as short as I would like.
Any help or guidance would be most appreciated.... New, used doesn't matter.... Thanks....

A buddy of mine used to have a Charger with a Burris 3x prism scope on it that was awesome. They also make one in a 5x36 that's only about 6" long. Not exactly what you were looking for but something to think about.

As you can see in the thread the whole package is really short and a longer scope looks out of place. The Leapers on the rifle in the pic is 8 1/2 inches and is about perfect size, so that's what I'm looking for, something similar... and without the stupid Mil Dot junk...

Nikon makes a 3x32 scope that is nice and compact, but it's meant for a .223 carbine and has a BDC for that. Probably a busier reticle than you want and not as much magnification as you are looking for.

I hate to say it, but you may be looking for a unicorn.....

Seems like Leapers/UTG may make several compact "tactical" scopes but they are of questionable quality and like you've experienced have reticles useless for your purposes.

Have you looked at the various 1x4, 1x6 and 1x8 type scopes?

I have looked endlessly and can find short scopes that have enough reticle garbage to satisfy even John Boyette but I don't need all of that crap in my eye. I just want a simple cross hair... If you think of something please holler....

Optics Planet has a fixed 6 power Primary Arms looks about right for length. It has some Very interesting reticles. Probably Way to inexpensive for most. Right down this pore boy's alley.

    6x + compact + simple reticle = unicorn

I just don't think you can pack that much magnification into a short tube. Not with any kind of optical quality anyway.

I think primary arms might have a scope that fits your needs, though maybe not reticle. Shoot them an email or just check out their site.

This is 1.5 - 5 and just under 10 inches. It has a plain duplex reticle and you can usually find deals on them. Got mine new right at $300 (I think from optics planet with a discount code) ...kinda pricey for a .22 but I have moved it around on an AR, 308 bolt, and an air rifle also. There is an "AR" version that is cheaper but it stops at 4 power I believe.

Not exactly what you are after (not 6x) but the only thing I have used that was sorta close that I could recommend because it has been a quality scope.

That is interesting...thanks for the info!

Look ata Weaver K6 x 38, it has a simple reticle you may like.
It is 11 3/8" long however.
I just picked up 2 from Natchez Shooters Supply.
Weaver has discontinued them so buy soon if you like it.

I went back to Google and settled on a BSA Sweet .22. It's an inch longer but it does away with that annoying Mil Dot crap and gives me a plain cross hair which I much prefer..
Thanks for everyone's suggestions and input....

This seems to check all the boxes and the reticle is specifically for a 22lr, except it's pretty busy. They messed up the length measurement, but it looks short.
