So It's winter and I'm working 18 hr days for 6-7 days a week and when I do get a day off occasionally its blowing a gale or raining like heck and I'm stuck indoors. Time for a new project. A friend of mine has me searching for a 12g coach gun (stoager preferably) for her door defense gun and I stumbled upon the Aguila and federal 1.75" shorty shells. I remember the KSG pump gun holds them and I got an idea to make a semi-auto function them reliably. So here it is

This is a 2 part plan, find a shorty shell buckshot load (for reloading) that works and 2, modify a semiauto 12g to cycle this load reliably. Yes, no commercial gun products exist but this is why it is a project and not a trip to the gun shop. In the end if I waste $200 on parts so be it. I've blown more at the titty bar for bachelor parties.

I plan make an auto loader, a Black Aces pro S or Remington V3 Tac 13 cycle short shells allowing them to hold more rounds as this will be an inside 15yrd gun. I'm fine with this gun being modified for use only with shorty shells as I expect normal shells would over power following the spring mods.

So I'm posting here for help coming up with a buckshot load. Has anyone messed with these shorty shell loads? This will be my first forte into reloading so I'm going into this project a bit blind. I'm clueless when it comes to powder. I did snag a pound of Winchester WST to begin with.

So far I've picked up
-20lbs of #0 and #4 buckshot
-5,000 Chedite 209 primers
-Couple bags of various wads
-clear shot cards
-Fiber gas checks, both waxed and regular.
-piles of my spent 12g high and low brass hulls
-roll crimper for drill press
-buffer to add to the buck
-100 Federal shorty #8, 50 Federal #4 buck, and 50 Aguila buck (a mix of #4 and 0) to take apart if needed for reference.

Thanks for any tips,

I would be more interested in #1 buckshot for this application. Would like to see what you come up with for reloading the shorty shells.

Thanks. This "#0" is mic'n at 0.321 to 0.305" so it is pretty close to #1. I haven't started to try any stacking yet. Hoping for around a 5/8ths or so load.
