I had some xtra cash lying around so I finally delved into the world of magnified optics this past week. I have a few Colts set up with Aimpoints, but wanted to branch out. So, I found a good deal on a pretty well regarded budget 1x4 optic, the Steiner P4xi.

I went through about 200rds this weekend with the Steiner mounted to a Colt CCU Carbine. That is a match made in heaven imho. I was just as fast up close then I am with my Aimpoint equipped Colts. The Steiner has a single illuminated dot at the middle of its reticle that acts just like a red dot at 1x. I don't think it's a true 1x, but I don't really care as the dot in the Steiner was much easier for me to focus on than the one presented by my PROs.

Suffice it to say, I may be ordering another one of these for my 2nd 6960 very soon. The magnification at longer ranges just seems to be a bonus. The downsides though are the facts that my PROs blow the Steiner out of the water when it comes to weight and battery life.
