You freakin idiots!

Shopping for a new Blue Ray player. I can get all manner of technical wonder-bang descriptions, a dozen photos of the player, what region of the world it will work in, hey look it plays MP3's, pictures of the back of machine showing all the new exciting ways to hook it up, and a free disc cleaner!
Oh yeah, and a remote control. Yawn.

Not one damn picture of the remote.
What do these idiots think I want to use, you-know, to interface with the machine? I'm only touching the machine itself to load and unload. I could care less what it looks like. The sellers of these things are obsessed with cosmetics of the damn things and I could care less. I'm not buying an effn car.

I think it's intentional. Engineers are dumbfounded by remotes. They 'engineer' them to control the tv, satellite, sound system, netflix, coffee machine and it will turn on the electric blanket too. Somewhere in those 300 buttons are the ones that actually control the machine. If they show me a picture of the remote, they figure..correctly..that I'll recoil in horror of the stupidity of the design and pass.
Here's an idea, just make the remote control only the machine it comes with. Nothing else!

Engineers just read that last sentence and their heads exploded in disbelief. If they can't over-engineer something like the professor in college told them to because that's what the world wants trust me, then they become absolutely stupefied deers in the headlights.

Let's be clear that it is Electrical Engineers that made those remotes. Us Civil Engineers agree with you and want to throw a bunch of Mechanical Engineers who design cars and trucks under a bus as well.
CF, PE

Lol. Agreed. My Brother is an Electrical Engineer..in California..(murmur)and I always tell him it's Engineer season here in the mountains with no bag limit.

No!, Nine!, Nyet! We Electrical Engineers ONLY design the "innards" of the remote. The Deamon-Spawn that you want to Tar & Feather or slowly Roast over a bed of Flaming Remotes are the Industrial Engineers or Human Factors folks!! Also, the Marketing creatures demand certain features so maybe they could be used as kindling??
