We all go to the range or the woods, and we shoot.
I post my targets in my range reports all the time.
I'm interested in seeing what you guys are up to, so show me whatcha got! lol.

Once I find my most recent ones, I'll post them to get us going.

One was from yesterday, with the light pasters on it.
The one with black pasters was today....not a good day, but it's a process. I had the low left creeping in, so I did some more shooting, then called it a day. We all have an off day. I'll go back and try again in a day or two.

    EDIT:
Ok, we're getting some pics, very nice, but some aren't telling what they shot and from how far. As you can see on most of the pics I've posted over the last year, there's a date, and the distance, and the gun I was using. Get specific.

I don’t go to the pistol range and stand there at 10 yards punching holes in paper for groups. Not anymore at least and not for a long time

I’ll do a quick warm up drill of 24 rounds (Guerilla Approach Warm Up consistency target is a favorite)
    https://guerrillaapproach.com/product/consistency-target-free/

But after that I’m doing rifle to pistol transitions, shooting, moving and changing mags. Obviously I’m going for A zone hits and the tighter the group the better but group size isn’t my main goal

I got some of those consistency dots from BP. Those things are a bear! lol.

The reason I want to get my groups tighter is so that I can hopefully get shots where I need them to be in case I have to pull out my gun and shoot. I figure with fear, adrenalin and narrowing of vision, my shots will be all spread out, so if I can try to get them tight on targets, maybe I can at least not shoot someone I didn't mean to hit.
Maybe my reasoning has flaws? If so, I'd be interested in another answer.

Certainly nothing is wrong with practicing fundamentals while at pre determined distance and shooting for accuracy/groups. But if a year later you’re doing the same drill at the same distance with not much variation...changing things up some might help you out. That’s all I’m saying, no disrespect intended

Ok, you’ve shamed me into ruining my paint job.

This afternoon, I began with the dots on paper and wasn’t satisfied at all. So I decided to shoot some steel. The first photo is the “before”. I started with the 10” plate second from the right and shot it until the bolt broke (second photo). I replaced the bolt (third photo) and shot it a bit more. Finally, I moved back and worked on the third plate from the right (left plate in the last photo).

Considering the ammo, bolt/nuts/washers and paint, another $30 or so down the drain. :(

I only focus solely on grouping and accuracy on paper when I am evaluating a new gun. The last such target photo I could find was from when I switched from carrying a SIG P239 to a S&W Shield in 2014.

The target was shot with 50 rounds from 25 feet - three magazines of 8 rounds each, four magazines of 5 rounds each, and a final magazine of 6 rounds.

On the first magazine, I pushed the gun left and dipped the barrel, which is not unusual when shooting a gun that is smaller and much lighter than normal.
On the second magazine, I corrected the push but still had the dip and on the third magazine, I tightened the group and avoided the dip, but let a little push creep back in.
I switched from loading the magazines to full capacity and slowed down a little for the remaining shots.
On the fourth and fifth magazines, I tightened the groups to an acceptable size, figured out how to avoid the push, and had minimal dip.
The sixth and seventh magazines brought everything together in the 10-ring and instead of just shooting a hole with the last magazine, I went to the edge of the target and "walked" the rounds in so I could clearly see where they were hitting.
Fifty rounds is not a lot, but it was enough to show the gun would shoot satisfactorily if I did my part.

As long as a gun is mechanically accurate, our part will come with practice.

I think the kind of practice that Jeppo's photos show is a lot more valuable than shooting paper to measure group sizes. Give me enough time and a good support and I can make some holes really close together on paper; and that's good if making holes close together on paper is why a person shoots. I practice for self defense, which is a very different skill.

I shot these today testing new sights. 10 yds unsupported with Glock 19. I think this will be a 50 yd zero but have to confirm at the longer range this weekend.

Millie, I think practicing accuracy (groups) is sound reasoning when you aren't as accurate as you would like to be.
