which should I get they are both Red box (CPO) sigs the price is the same. they are mail order so I cant see them before hand from sig the P229
"Certified Pre-Owned Sig Sauer P229 40S&W, contrast sights, and two 12 round mags.

Pre-owned Sig's may or may not have a rail. Sig does not specify or guarantee the model variation on these pre-owned firearms."
and the P226 "Sig Sauer CPO - Certified Pre Owned P226, 40S&
Item may or may not include a rail or other features, as Sig sources these from multiple variations on the P226*"
all CPO guns get

These pre-owned Sig Sauer pistols have been Factory Certified after passing the Sig Sauer five point factory certification process. No certified pre-owned Sig Sauer pistol leaves the factory without the approval of the expert Sig Sauer armourers.

Before receiving its factory (CPO) certified pre-owned status each pistol is:

1. stripped

2. refitted withoriginal factory parts where needed

3. cleaned and lubricated

4. function tested and hand inspected by a certified Sig Sauer armourer.

Includes Sig Sauer 1 year factory warranty !!

I may try it in my carry rotation but it will mainly be a range gun it will be my 1st sig I am a 1911 person

That's depressingly inexpensive. I've a P229 in 40 that's only had a box of 20 run through it that was for sale until the prices collapsed.

I just picked up a 9mm caliber exchange kit for the p226 that needs a 40/357 host.

If you’re going to carry it the 229 will be more concealable than the 226, but not by much.
