I joined that forum a while back because I used to be a fan of Sig Sauer. But I ended up with an M-11a1 in a trade that just wouldn’t cycle.i tried everything that I knew to do and took it to a couple gunsmiths to look at. After the usual replace the ejector, replace the mags, honed the chamber and polished the feed ramps, it still wouldn’t work! Double feed, not eject, misfire... So anyway, this morning I went online to Sig Talk and told them what was going on with it. I have never seen a bunch of more sanctimonious assholes in all my life! Basically told me that I was full of shit, didn’t know what I was doing and should have sent it back to Sig if it didn’t perform (I was but I stuck it in the safe and don’t think about it too often), questioned how many Sigs that I owned (and didn’t shoot) and tried to make me feel like a jackass! They would have hurt my feeling if I had any! Had one asshole from Texas just say “ Bullshit!” Who do these azzholes think they are? And what makes them think Sig is the be all do all, God’s gift to shooters!? They aren’t worth a shit anymore and how they got the Army contract I’ll never know! I’d rather carry a Beretta! Ok, end of rant! Just pissed off this morning and they didn’t make it any better.

I had a SIG phase. The ones I have had--P220, P226, P239, and 1911--were flawless. I was on that site, and just about any question I asked, trying to learn about SIG, was answered with sarcasm, pissiness, and sanctimony. I wasn't on there for long.

To this day the P239 remains one of my faves.

Fanboys, there is no discussion with them. Their Idolized totems can do no wrong.

I read the thread. I have an account over there but rarely post. The crazy thing is Sig Talk is 1000X better than the Sigforum.

I will give you some advice when you contact Sig. Do not tell them you bought the gun used. They will only honor the warranty to the original purchaser. Tell them it was a gift and you do not have a receipt if they bring up proof of purchase. Also make sure you ask them for a call tag and have them pay the freight. Good luck.

H&K forum was the same way. When I mentioned that I was loading my own and using lead bullets you would have thought I’d insulted all their mothers.

I think they have to be sanctimonious to justify the price tag when a $400 glock is just as good or better.

I was just about to say if you think they are bad you must not post on the HKforum. LMAO

To be fair, aside from the one guy who called BS (there's always that one guy), the rest of the replies were not all that out of line.
No some weren’t, and I answered them. But even they took a lot for granted. Asked about my other Sigs not being shot. Hell, I shoot Glocks and 1911s now! All I wanted to know is if anyone else is having this problem and what can I do about it short of sending it back. If it was something simple that was overlooked and could be fixed, and they seemed to dig into everything else. I’m sending it back to Sig and then dumping it. It’s not something that I’d bet my life on. That’s why I’ve kept it so long. I hate selling it to someone who wants it for self defense and it doesn’t work. Oh well, maybe it’s me. I have been called an azzhole before. It could be true!:D

Last time I talked to them was before a deployment and they wanted me to pay freight and pay $100 to just look at it. I didn’t want it tied up while I was gone and didn’t send it. It’s sit in the safe for years now, it’s like other things, if it’s not in my hand, it’s not on my mind!

I’ve got several Sigs that I used to shoot a lot! P220, 2 P229s, 2 P226s, P938, 2 P2022, and several 1911s, a couple mosquito’s (if you can really call that crap Sigs!) and some that are NIB that I just don’t shoot. But that M11a1 is a POS! And I was really looking to make it my carry gun at the time! Imagine my disappointment! I traded a nice H&K USP45 c for it. Boy did I get screwed! ( I didn’t like the HK either).

Ive dabbled in a few other "brand specific" forums and while there are some good gems of knowledge to be learned, all in all they are all rife with confirmation bias. Large groups of people who gather together to pat each other on the back for their excellent decision making skills in the specific brand they have hitched their wagon to. I don't fit in well in any of them because I have this horrid belief that CZs and Glocks are good, and HK and Sig also make good firearms. Also, sometimes I feel Taurus does a decent job and *gasp* PSA ARs aren't terrible!

Were they going to do the work under warranty? If it was me I would call them back and tell them that you have been deployed and had put the pistol aside and are now just getting back to it and ask firmly for them to pay the freight. When I have dealt with Sig CS there is some variance between once CS rep and another. In my experience they are told to initially not pay the freight but if pressed in a calm and reasonable way they can do it.

I can’t remember, it’s been a while. I do know that it was $100 to look at it.

I have a few Sig 516 uppers, but only bought them because they were a good deal. Other than that, Sig's never done much for me.

This advice worked for me when I wanted them to send me a new extractor for my used gun! They wanted me to send the gun so they could put it in, but I got the guy to send me the part! Yay.

t got off the phone with Sig. They are going to warranty the work and send a label. I have to pay shipping one way because it’s over a year old. I’m good with that! Thanks!

I like Sigs but older ones. I don’t trust the newer ones. Lots have come in and out over the years. Still have a few. All are German or W German guns.
  • P228 x 3
  • P220
  • P226
  • P225
The P228 was the first gun I had extensive time on. Still love the platform.

I’m a huge fan of the P-series Sigs. P226, P220, P228, P6(P225). Had a P229 in the past.
Never joined SigTalk, but I’ve been an active member of SigForum almost 10 years. Never has a problem getting questions answered, and never had a bad experience with any of the members or staff. I understand others have in the past, but that’s not been my experience.

See no that is a matter of opinion that you state as fact too. We all have opinions, Sig, HK, Glock, CZ, hell even Hi-Point. But if you go on a specific forum expect the fanboys out in full form.

I have owned a dozen Sigs. I had great luck with all but one 226 (older model). I only have two in my stable now, the p365 and p229. I won’t part with either because the work great and serve a specific purpose. I am not a fan of HK handguns unless it is a USP or Mk23. I owned one CZ 07 urban and it was the best shooting pistol I have ever had. I don’t like Glocks, have owned a few now and sold the last one a few months ago. All matter of opinion.

Best of luck @Hammer21b , I hope they sort it out.

If you post this vid on Sig forum they will send a cadre of teacup gripping Pgun users to silence you.

heh. Ever been to the AKfiles forum? lmao you will get roasted there for asking normal questions.
True, but loaded with priceless information.

AK need to be 'built', ARs are 'assembled'. AKFiles in invaluable for build-related topics, but yes, agree its not exactly owing with that Southern Charm

Love my sig 220. Not familiar with M11. All I know is I dont buy plastic from sig. Just not their wheel house and will stick with Glock, whose been perfecting hammerless plastic ugly sticks for decades. Though I will re-consider after they gain experience with this new mil contract.

The slide on my 220 is so smooth it actually baffles me. I have no idea what makes it THAT smooth, but its unlike all other handguns I allegedly own, would own or have owned.

oh and, edit to add : 'f&^% YOU' --from my sig ;-P

Sig knows how to take care of customers, even if you got it used.
They replaced the sear and trigger bar on my P229 police trade, I just paid for the shipping.
I dropped the box off at FedEx hub. Got it back in two days.:)

As for those forum fools as I call them, they did not read you got the gun used.
Not your fault somebody messed with it.

There are 3 Sigs here presently. 2 NIB and 1 shot bunches. Probably owned 20 over the years counting from the 70s and the BDAs. A shooter Pal O Mine had a new one I watched him unbox that Would Not feed ball. We got it sorted but why should stuff like this happen at this price range?
One other thing, strictly personal with me, Not calling our anybody that posted, BUT...why would anybody ever start out trying to get help from somebody by telling a lie????? Just tell the truth. You are to be commended for not wanting to sell it to somebody knowing it doesn't work. I have sold guns that did not work well enough to suit me But always with full disclosure. Don't Start with a lie about how you came about the gun. Always tell the truth. I was once described as being Painfully Truthful. Every poster gave good advice about how to handle your problem And you got it taken care of. Be above the misdirection game. You'll always know you did the right thing. Oh and Also, commit to memory folks who might encourage you to stray from the Truth. You might have to deal with them some day.

I read through all these 'my [insert gun here] malfunctioned' threads and I cannot help but feel blessed.
I have never had a factory gun fail to function as designed.
Sure, Ive had aftermarket barrels out of spec, messed up some shade tree smithin here and there, had a bad lot of ammo once...but never had a factory gun give me trouble.

Knock on wood.

OP, I have no doubts Sig will get you straightened out and you'll enjoy that M11 when they do.

I would go as far to say it is rare for a malfunctioning gun to make it out of the factory of a very reputable firearms manufacturer.

I have only had one that was a lemon (even though these trees grow in all companies). Mine was a Beretta 92FS. Beretta took care of it and it ran great afterwards. I suspect the P226 I had was bubba’d before I got it.

Ive had two used guns bubba had his meat hooks on that have given me tiny troubles. One was a screw that would loosen under recoil and cause issues. A little green loctite fixed that right up. The other was a bent sear spring when it was reinstalled. That caused a tiny hitch at the half cock notch when going through the da pull.
Ive been very fortunate...even with used ones

I readily admit I'm not a Sig guy. Never had one so all I know is watching what happens when someone brings one to my range.
My buddy got himself a 2022 at the Asheville gun show. Brand new. Brings it out, shoots 4" low. He tries several times, same result, 4" low.
So I try it. Same, 4" low.
This is not a 50 yard test, it's from 30 feet.
He ends up changing the sights, brings it back, 4" low. Ok so now he's starting to get pissed. lol.
Contacts Sig, they say send it in. Brings it back out...4" low. Sends it back a 2nd time, brings it back out...4" low.
No matter what ammo, or shooter, that gun always shot four inches low. I understand the 2022 is kind of their econo model yes? But still...4 inches at 30 feet? Uh...

'Nother friend, retired from the Fire Department and his buddies got him one of the Sig 1911's. Don't know the exact model, full size 45 with the pic rail. Had it engraved with his name and fireman stuff. It's cool. Dead nutz accurate.

With me, never cared for DA/SA guns anyway, and when it comes to plastic nazi stuff I like the Walthers. Most things I read about Sig, the owners seem to like em. But I've never felt compelled to jump into the Sig army. Maybe someday if I find a deal, but I'll be comparing it to the Walthers, and that means it'd better shoot lemon size groups offhand at 30 feet and never screw up.

I have never been able to shoot a Sig worth a fart. Owned two and will never own another.

I have never had a factory gun fail to function as designed.
Sometimes, it is not that the gun fails to function, but the functionality is very poor.

My top 3 negative experiences with new factory guns:
  • SIG P226ST - bent trigger bar pressing against the frame made every trigger pull heavy and gritty.
  • Colt 1991 - faulty milling left a lip between the breech face and breech wall that bent the case rim of every round fired through the gun.
  • SIG P220ST - the hammer pin hole was misaligned and caused the hammer to drag on the frame, resulting in a DA trigger pull over 20 pounds.
Each of the guns worked, they just didn't work right until they were fixed by the factory.
