I looked on amazon and they go from $25. up.
Is there any need to spend $80 bucks on sights for a basic shooter?

The best deal has been PSA that sells the set of MBUS for $49.99...but it looks like they’re out of stock at the moment.

I just bought a set of those $25 amazon fixed sights for an ultra low cost build... they suck. They don't line up; front is too high, or the rear is too low, take your pick which makes no sense since they're sold together as a set.

The adjustment on the front broke while we were trying to zero it. The detent jammed up and now it won't allow the front to turn at all. The rear locks onto the rail, but the part that contains the actual rear peep (and moves up and down to adjust) wiggles around.

Don't make the same mistake I did. Unless you need some junk parts in your "big box of mistakes", then by all means give them a try.

I went back to the magpul flip-ups I had on it before. I figured that since it won't have optics, that there was no reason to have flip-ups since they won't ever be down. So much for that.

Thanks, I'll take your advice.

I second this, had some so bad the attachment screw was stripped out the box. And by box I mean flimsy plastic mailer bag.

I bought a knock off pair of MBUS for $10 just to see what they were like, and they were pretty much exactly the same as MBUS sights... look like they were made in the same factory but don't have the Magpul logo... They also were as accurate as they could be with a limey on the trigger...

However they were replaced by a set of genuine MBUS sights and a red dot eventually.

I ended up going with the Daniel Defense A1.5 sight set on my carbine. Not cheap at $129 a set, but definitely solid. I used a set of these on my BPM patrolman carbine to take 7th place (out of 127 shooters) in the modern military rifle match at Camp Perry last summer. I don't regret the purchase at all.

BUIS are a lot like life, you get out of them, what you put into them.
Cheap especially means cheap when it comes to this part of your build, I hear MAGPUL sights are good, DPMS Mangonels aren't bad, Daniel Defense also have a following.
But I spend my money on Troy Industries, I use their fixed HK style front and folding rear and they are bomb proof

Agree the Magpul paired on PSA promo the way to go, I always get two sets.

Watch out for the cheaper air soft sights, do not old up on the AR's like the real deal.
