Signal Mirrors anybody carry them

Just wondering if anybody carries a signal mirror in their pack and which brand is better

I doubt there is much difference in the various ones, as far as quality etc
Pick up a cheap one at WM and call it a day.

I got one from my Boy Scout days. It is polished stainless with the sight hole in the center. It stays in the b.o.b.

yes, i carry one in my get-home-bag.
there's also one in every vehicle.
i've tried the reinforced glass, but i switched to metal.
they've only been used as an actual mirror (no signaling).

i've practiced with them, and they work well, but.....
someone showed me that they are not that great.
from my fading memory, these were his points:
1. ~50% of 24 hours are dark.
2. 50% of daylight hours (in NC) are too cloudy/foggy/etc.
3. 50% of the sky is blocked by trees/buildings/mountains.
there were others, but you get the idea.
do the math, and get ~5% possibility of right time and right place.
i still carry them.

I carry one. But as @turkeydance described, I feel their usefulness as a signaling device is limited. I carry it as part of my IFAK as I have on more than one occasion needed a mirror for self-care. I've used it to help to dig a fish hook out of my face, clear crud from my eye and check out a broken tooth.

I still have my mil-issue one. In SERE we were trained to use them to signal AC; in reality, I used it to shave in front of. I do keep it in my survival kit I camp with.
