Friends and fellow members, I learned a valuable lesson today, one which I do not feel very good about. I purchased a pistol in 2004 from a dealer who expressed to me that it was factory new, from a surplus supply in a Police Department in the midwest and never issued. I have had this pistol since then, and never fired it. To me, it was pristine, and I decided to sell it. Everything was accomplished, Bill of Sale completed, and pistol was transferred to new owner. I later learned from the buyer that the pistol had been fired, and had been issued previously, prior to the dealer receiving it. I sold it in good faith, based on what I was told, but I feel really rotten right now, and feel that I should just sign off of the forum completely. My apologies to everyone who welcomed me aboard, I am not a bad or dishonest person. Best wishes to you all.
Doc Holliday.

Hey @Doc Holliday, I saw that gun as soon as you listed it and because I happened to be chatting with a collector at the time, I told him about it immediately. I know the whole story about what happened and he's ok with it. There are apparently no hard feelings on his side and he seems NOT interested in trying to unwind the deal with you.

I guess the real lesson to be learned is to inspect everything you buy...before buying it if possible but at least when you receive it if that's the only possibility (such as when we buy guns online). We need all the gun people we can get on this forum. It hopefully will be good for you and your participation will be good for us.

Stick with us. ;)

There's no such thing as a new gun in the hands of a buyer. It was new when it first sold, it doesn't matter if that buyer took it and had it encased in Carbonite, it's still used.

You have to stay @Doc Holliday . If @J R Green agree on something it's a special moment in time :D

Doc, These guys are giving you good advice. Honest mistakes happen all the time. No need to leave .You offered to do the right thing and the buyer was satisfied with the deal you made. Lesson learned and now its time to move forward.

I'm confused - what does this transaction have to do with leaving the forum? Seems a bit like "I saw a spider in my house, I'm going to burn the house down." Take a chill pill, man.

As for the transaction, sounds like the buyer is satisfied with your offer to unwind the transaction and understands that the mistake was not your fault.

For those of you that don't know,I was the buyer of the Glock,Doc has offer to buy it back and re sell it as a used gun ,I declined Doc, Don't leave the forum. Even though you were told the pistol was new and unfired by a lier .A dealer who probably got what was due to him. I got a used gun for a used gun price. I don't have a problem because I truly believe you. I was scammed by a dealer in Durham a year or so ago. I bought a barrel and bolt carrier group
He told me it was Daniel Defense. The barrel was not a DD barrel .I sold it to a member on the forum. I called Richard at Ram Arms and he lied to me saying he never said it was DD. I called him s lier to his face.I sent the buyer a check in the mail for the full purchase price and waited close to 2 months before I got it back. So don't feel bad . It has happened to me before. Probably will again . No hard feelings here. Hang in there and stay on CFF. Raymond ,Have gun - will travel.
So there's your answer. This is the man that matters. Or in this case doesn't matter. Hope to see posts later today!!!!!!

Looks like he hasn't been on since a few minutes after posting this thread last night. Hopefully he checks back in to read it.

Since it seems we'd all like him to stay with us, perhaps an Admin could send him an email?

Losing face can be traumatic especially if one is honest....Ive had "stuff" happen when my intent was not dishonest or malicious. If God can forgive you, as well as the buyer, your forgiven! I agree that an admin should refer Doc back to this thread. No shame in being wrong....only in finding out and not owning up...which you did not do. The best lessons are always the hard S@&$!

just ask the buyer what he wants to do. Hang around, we all screw up. I show pics of my mother in laws hiney crack when I mess up and folks don’t bother me anymore.

Hey Folks, I know this guy very well and this is an honest mistake.

We do as well as evidenced by the prior 36 posts :) Call him and tell him to log on and read this thread!

Stick around, @Doc Holliday !

It sounds like everything worked out ok and no-one is steamed. Life gets hairy sometimes, and everyon makes mistakes. It's how ya deal with it that makes for good character, and you've shown you have that.

Hope to read your posts in the near & far future.
