The part about approval to leave the state with one is incorrect, but most of the rest is fairly solid.
ETA: and I'm not sure I know of any instructors that have ever stated they preferred all the students use silencers during training, as I'd bet a majority don't own them, and the handling aspects are definitely...especially for a handgun
