My latest build is using a barrel from Special Ops Tactical. The barrel has what they call an "angled gas port" or AGP.

I just got back from the range and I'm impressed with how the gun felt.

I ran 120 rounds of IMI and PMC X-Tac M855 ammo through it with no failures. The outside temp right now is 62 degrees.

It was great to shoot. I can really tell the difference between it and my midlength 556. All milspec parts were used.

Parts list:
Anderson MFG. Lightweight Sport upper
AAC NiB BCG
Ranier Raptor charging handle
Magpul MBUS
Special Ops Tactical 16" AGP barrel with rifle gas
MI 15" G3 SSK-Series handguard
Q Cherry Bomb muzzle brake

Noveske N4 lower
CMC flat single stage trigger - 3.5 lb
MOE + grip
CTR stock
JP SCS Gen 2

A lot of people told me that it would not run without a silencer but it runs great!

I've been very interested in these barrels. It's an interesting solution to the 16" rifle gas lack of dwell. I do really like the rifle impulse feel.
Seems like a nice list of parts too. Should post a pic.

Try a lightweight buffer/bcg and adjustable gas and you can soften the feel even more! Although, might not even need adjustable gas on that barrel.

I was going for all milspec instead of heavily modified. I'm sure it can get a lot softer, but to me it almost feels like a .22 right now! My next test will be with weak ammo and lower temperatures to see when it will fail.

Here are a few not very good pics.

Very cool! I love the simple solution to a specialty/niche problem. The 16” would be great for my comp rifle.

I’d love to see a 6” .300BLK or 11” middy 5.56.

Not bad for $210 msrp.

How about 5.9" 300 BLK?

I also bought the carbine length 9.2"

I do like the 9.2” 5.56, would be great for a 9” handguard build.

Actually just realized after looking at the 5.9” that there likely wouldn’t be enough dwell time to cycle reliably subs/supers suppressed/unsuppressed. If they did an AGP 6.75” that would likely do it. My 8” BA barrel is perfect so based on their info, a 6.75” AGP should be perfect for PDW builds.

Finally finished the 9.2" upper. It's replacing my PSA 10.5". I was having a hard time finding the right handguard because of the gas block position on the barrel. I wanted the handguard to cover the gas block but leave the threads exposed for my silencer. I went with a BCM alpha 8". A 7" was too short, and I didn't want to have to cut down the 9"

It still leaves a little bit of the gas block exposed, but it's close enough.

It weighs a hair under 7 pounds without a mag.

I'm happy with how it turned out so far and I can't wait to shoot it.
