Why now?

I spent most of the Summer in shorts and shirtless, even after the sun went down. Mosquitoes weren't much of a nuisance until well after sunset. And then, they weren't even that bad. Now? The little blood suckers are out in force and they aren't waiting for sundown. Just a little shade and they are on me!

Did something change? I'm being sucked dry! And not the good way.

Same here. Went out to push little man in swing and I had shorts on. Got ate up. None bothered him today. We were in shade under a tree though.

All the rain has them breeding.

I would have thought that, if the summer had been extraordinarily dry. But I felt like it's been fairly wet more often than not, unless my perception stinks.

But yeah, all the rain and cooler temps. Means the lil buggers are going all out

Been that way all spring and summer at my place.
Putting on DEET has been the only answer.

It’s the rain.

Due to the repeated tropical storms in cajun country they are finding dead deer that died due to lack of oxygen, because of blood depletion from these skeeters.

The air has cooled down. You’re putting off more a a heat source.

Went over to my place in Darlington today to try out a new toy in the middle of the day and the skeeters were swarming so bad I only got off one mag before they ran me back in my truck. Could not imagine what they would be like at dusk dark. They like us that take blood thinner too. No much effort to get a belly full evidently. My Dr did say that Mosquitos can sense people that are on thinner. Might just be bullshit but it sure seems to be a fact

I’ve been doing something new this year since I have a little one running around. I live in swamp (literally called Back Swamp). Either side of the yard is wooded and the back property line is a canal. They would drink you and sound like a Blackhawk while doing so. Started spaying this liberally every 6 weeks, no mosquitoes.

Skeeter Beaters. All natural product made in Hertford I believe. Google them. They will ship to you free or at least they used to. You can sometimes find the stuff in Lowes. Works quite well.

Never have seen them worse here. Had No Problems until about 3 weeks ago. The ground is saturated, the water can't get off the range. While I'm sure our huge tires breed them, we Never had this problem before. Sterritt Swamp is a hundred yards from @garvin 's house is out to within 4 feet of the damn road!!!

I keep mine at bay by fogging my property.

I also heard it was the storm winds blowing them up from the south. At my house i get woozy just walking to the car, then i spend half my drive killing them inside the car while im driving:eek:

Pour a little motor oil into each tire. The film it leaves on top of the water suffocates the little larvae.

But then you'll be a baby killer.

Skeeters usually leave me alone. I joke that it's the hot sauce, likker & nicotine.

They can sense/smell your blood type as well & if memory serves, prefer O+.
