So, about five years ago I picked up a new Arsenal SLR-107 and, with the help of hindsight, I should've left it was, but that's water under the bridge at this point, and I added a Midwest Industries extended railed lower hand guard and Aimpoint top specific top hand guard, with an Aimpoint PRO.
At the time, she was easily handled, and felt relatively light. But as the years have passed, she seemed to get front heavy.
The progression from MI/PRO , was slow, the PRO went to my Psuedo Colt Commando pistol build. The rest stayed the same until I went shopping Saturday when I found a set of MAGPUL MOE/MLOK AK hand guards. So, off came the MI extended set, and on went the MOE lower, while I searched for a suitable replacement for the gas tube.
Finally settled on the Midwest railed AK gas tube.
Heres a before picture, MI extended rail and Aimpoint PRO

I dig scout setups but yeah, that looks a wee bit on the beefy side. Looking forward to more pics of your progress.

Is it an "F" model instead of an "FR"? No rail? If so, and if you want to run a side-mounted optic, check out the Master Mount. Pretty cool quality product that is easy to install and removable if you ever change your mind.

No, it was an FR, and stupid me, I sold the Arsenal hand guard set.
I'm looking at a Burris TSR-25 or equivalent for an optic once the MI gas tube arrives.

I like the folding stock to be honest, I put a side mount on it, I've lost the folding option

If you're referring to the Bushnell TRS-25, for what it's worth I've had one on a WASR for nearly four years - for a year or so on a side mount and the last three on a rear sight rail. It has been bombproof and is still on the original battery. Really a wonderful little red dot for the price.

Okay I thought you meant THE Arsenal ...was gonna have an intervention for you...yes, trim that baby down

Midwest railed gas tube arrives on Saturday.
Broke down last night and ordered the TRS-25. I won't let this one get away like the first one I had.
I just finished relieving the Magpul lower hand guard to allow the stock to fold. Next up, is a good thorough degreasing, masking, and Krylon Ultra flat black rattle canning.
Optic oughta be here sometime early next week.

Well, my original order from Optics Planet had the TRS-25 scheduled for shipment between three to seven weeks from my order date. So I did some searching and ordered one from Midway. Heres the difference, Midway actually lists their inventory on the products page, OP doesn't. I ordered the thing at 1630 today, it shipped at 1700.....and the OP order was promptly CANCELLED
Here are some pictures of the Arsenal with the Magpul lower hand guard, with the rough relief I did to let the stock fold.
The OEM gas tube is standing in until the Midwest tube gets here.

Damn railed gas tube arrived today.....yay Optics Planet..............

Did a minimum of dressing to the Dremel relief to allow the stock to fold, that's a whole other story though....

I have a little work to do as far as painting the hand guard and securing the gas tube, so at this point I'm just temporarily adding things to see what everything looks like.

Been doing some refining work, to the rifle. The relief cut to allow the stock to fold is complete, the paraclip sling mount came yesterday, TRS-25 arrived today.
Pardon the crappy pictures, getting used to a new phone.
The rough setup.

Painting the handguard is next. And after that, the final installation of the handguard and gas tube.

I'm curious why you don't use the side rail to get the center of balance back some. Just like having the optic out front?

Use the side rail, lose the stock fold......

And the forward mount setup here balances just fine
