I am switching over to 100% coated lead bullets, LRN/LTC/LSWC, and interested in getting the best sized bullets for the various barrels I'm shooting for both accuracy and minimal (or no) leading

Has anyone used the "Slug Your Barrel Kits"? Any advice / recommendations?

Specifically want to do this on a .38 and .45 wheel gun.

Thanks

I’m not an expert, but the few times I’ve done this I’ve used a lead round ball and a wooden dowel.

Did it once in a Mosin Nagant with an oval shaped lead fishing weight and a wooden dowel. Still have the slug somewhere.

.

Come to think of it, anyone got a .44 ball I can use to slug my SBH?
@NCWalrus I can send a few .36 balls so you can slug your 357 if you want.

They are actually a pretty good deal if you will be slugging a lot of different bores. I had a hard time finding lead fishing weights a few years back when I needed to do a few different size bores. This kit was on my to buy list when I lucked into some pure lead pellets. They let me slug what I needed to so did not buy the kit.

Don’t forget to slug each cylinder throat. If the throat is smaller than the barrel grooves, then there is no good bullet size.

Expect the cylinder throats to be inconsistent, which means different size bullets going into the barrel, that’s a bit of a problem too.

Welcome to the world of revolver accurizing.
