I have a big firebowl here at home that I use quite often.

But I wanted a smaller one to take up to our Wilkes Co property for our camp site.

So I built one.

I had a couple of giant dump truck brake drums that I got from @DCGallim probably 5 years ago. They've just been sitting at the corner of my shop since.

Welded on a few black iron pipe legs and a bit of expanded metal into the bottom to hold wood and large coals, letting air through and small coals/ash drop through.

And welded up a cooking grate.

I'll break it in Saturday.

Looks good. How easy was it to weld? I've got a couple of those drums, delayed using them for a couple things due to thinking they were cast iron and not real easy to weld.

ps Those things are HEAVY!

They welded rather easy. No issues. Used .030 flux core wire.

And yes they are very heavy. This will be taken in to the camp site in the bed of a Kawasaki Mule. And left there lol.

Dragged this beast up to the camp site this weekend for an inaugural overnight camp trip with @thrillhill and a buddy of mine from high school.

We made good use of the firebowl, cooking Saturday's supper and Sunday's breakfast on it.
