Miss my old stainless 10-22. Enjoyed it immensely but am open to suggestions for my next rimfire rifle. Anything out there that's a new "must-have"?!

I have a Marlin XT bolt and this week bought a Marlin 795 semi .22. I was close to getting a heavier Rem semi .22, but I wanted a rifle with a little bit of felt recoil.

^ its a benchmark (the 10-22...czfool68 sneaked in on me) I did buy a Ruger American rimfire, topped it with a Leupold rimfire scope, hit the woods with a ton of excitement, and F^@%ing hated it. Inaccurate, inconsistent (regardless of ammo and even after remounting/rechecking and eventually replacing the scope.

Unless you buy a CZ. :p
My 22lr 452 American & 17hmr 452 Varmint were crazy accurate. Hated to let 'em go, but I'm too ADD to punch paper, had nowhere to set up on some varmints & they were just too pretty to beat up in the woods, so had to send 'em off to proper homes. Amazing little guns & worth every cent.

Agree with CC, the Marlin 60 is a good option as well. Very cost effective and an accurate rifle.

I've got a 60DLX wearing a Weaver 2.5-7x28 that I use to shoot the staples out of my target at 25yds when I start getting bored. My 795 with Tech Sights also shoots surprisingly itty bitty groups. Both do this with either plain ol' Federal bulk pack- blue box, red box or Auto Match, makes no difference.

I shoot an old Revelation brand .22 and it's been great for most of my rimfire needs for a long time. I just love shooting that old ugly thing and it's always been dependable. I also enjoy shooting a Remington Nylon 66 at times as well.

Over the past 5 years however my son bought me a Ruger 10/22 and a couple of years ago I purchased the M&P 15/22. I enjoy each for different reasons but the 15/22 has just really been a fun gun to shoot and is always popular when we have friends over to shoot.

If I were advising a first time rimfire purchaser on a choice it would be a Ruger 10/22 and then let them explore other options as their shooting interests increased for other varieties.

My Marlin 81 bolt gun is my go to. I have never owned a more accurate or better shooting .22

It puts CCI Quiet and Remington Cbee's into squirrels brains with boring ease.

I wouldn't trade my marlin 60 or 795 for love nor money.
'N that's why I have a 99M1, a 60DLX & two 795s. A goodly number of long guns have passed through my hands, but my Marlins don't leave.

39A is my go to meat getter. CB longs for the tree rats.

Love my 10-22, but for all around simplicity, I find myself spending more time with my Ruger American rimfire ("Made in Mayodan, NC") topped with a Nikon 4x fixed power scope. Coca-cola cans at 100 yds fear me all day long.

Tried to ignore the CZ455 and obtain another 10/22 but in the end that was only a half-hearted effort and a new CZ455 Varmint shall be mine shortly......cant wait!

You have chosen very wisely. Have you decided on an optic for it yet?

Not yet. I plan to look to these precision trainer guys for advice, but want to keep it < $500 since it is just a plinker that'll probably get carried around the woods during small game season.

My daughter took my takedown 10-22... but I still have a 39 Century Ltd, one o' the best Marlin 39's ever made. Then I found a 1929 Remington Model 24 and a 1935 Ranger Model 34. Oh, yeah, there's a Remington Speedmaster in the safe, as well as a Marlin model 60 with Tech Sights. All of 'em shine... 'Murica has produced some really good 22 rifles!

1968 manuf. date....my first rifle, and the definitive .22 rifle.

I got a S&W 15-22 last fall, but only shot it twice. It just made me think that I'd really rather be shooting my CZ455.

Way back when, the early '70's to be more precise, we sold a boatload of Model 60's, cases of them every year. I'm a 10/22 fan myself, though.

I wouldn't trade my Model 60 for 12 10/22s. Okay...maybe I would and buy a couple more Model 60s and a fancy CZ or something. Even with the cheap air rifle scope I have on the Marlin, I have no problem popping the heads on squirrels at distance. Makes the teenagers mad when we go squirrel hunting.

10-22 is still king.
Cost is a little more initially than most other rimfires, but is durable, idiot proof, a ton of aftermarket stuff is available if you want to change it up, and they hold their value if you need to sell.

I recently picked up the 10/22 in Kryptek camo. I got to shoot it today and, no surprise, it's great.

Semi auto 22s, 10/22 is king. Buy the cheapest one you can find. Polish the Trigger, mod the bolt release, place a Kidd barrel on it, and get a Boyd's stock. Vortex scope. And you've spent 700 dollars and have a hell of a gun.

Is that sarcasm? If so, pretty well done.

Translation: Buy a 10/22. Replace everything, then you have a hell of a gun. Funny stuff. People do like tinkering with their firearms. Something to do when we can't go shoot I guess.

What? No love for the Savage FVSR? Really? Out of the box it'll put pretty much any stock 10/22 to shame for accuracy and it comes threaded for a can from the factory and it's got a great trigger.

I'm missing my TC Contender with custom trigger and 10in Bellm custom air guaged barrel. From a rest it'll plug a 12ga hull at 50yds with annoying regularity. Traded it to my oldest son so I still can get at it from time to time.

Well, out of the box you could pretty much build a 22lr out of cardboard and beat a 10/22 for accuracy! :p
